How to clean the print head of a Canon printer

One of the methods for flushing the print head of Canon printers and MFPs

Flush the Canon Pixma print head with patience and care. The fact is that the result of excessive haste is irreversible damage to the heads, which is extremely difficult to eliminate later. Flushing heads with a small blockage takes one to three days, while a significant blockage can be removed no earlier than a week. Most often, after two hours of flushing, you can carefully inspect the head nozzle area and perform a test print in order to understand whether it is worth continuing the flushing and wasting time on this.

There are several effective Canon head cleaning methods in common use today. Let’s try to consider the simplest and at the same time the most effective way, using which, you can flush the Canon print head, even without having much experience in carrying out such work.

Prepare special equipment immediately before starting cleaning. First of all, we need a perfectly clean container with a smooth finish. The optimal solution would be a tea saucer or a new plastic container with low sides, for example, you can use a blister pack from Bursten NANO cartridges.

clean, print, head, Canon, printer

In addition, you will need a soft, lint-free material that retains liquid well. For these purposes, you can take a disposable lint-free towel, as well as regular gauze. We are also preparing a couple of new disposable syringes with a volume of up to 10ml.

The use of special KILL-BILL fluid should be carried out with the utmost care, as contact of this agent with the varnish coating of the printhead for more than 10 minutes can lead to irreversible consequences.

We cut the fabric into rectangular pieces, one of which we fold in accordance with the size of the lower head area. Next, pour the pre-warmed flushing liquid into the container and slightly dip the pre-rolled tissue swab there. We roll up the second tampon and also slightly moisten it.

In order for flushing to provide an optimal result, the OCP RSL service fluid must be brought to a temperature between 35C and 40C. It is best to warm up by lowering the bottle in hot water or in a water bath.

With moistened cloth swabs, we wash the lower head area from dirt. We try not to touch the contours of the nozzles to avoid blocking the holes. As a rule, one swab is not enough and a second blank may be required.

Carefully remove the rubber seals of the ink tanks and rinse them under warm running water. This procedure is necessary, since dried ink forms hardened crusts that impair the tightness of the joint, as a result of which the ink does not sufficiently enter the head. After the gum has been washed, wipe it dry and reinstall it.

We draw the preheated OCP RSL liquid into a syringe and drop one drop onto the grid of the ink intake nozzles. As the liquid flows through the capillaries of the head, we instill in the liquid several more times. This operation should be performed until a piece of tissue placed under the capillaries no longer stains.

In the final step, a clean piece of tissue is taken and rolled into a swab. After moistening the tampon well, put the head on it and leave it for an hour. After the specified time, we inspect the fabric, if no significant smudges are visible, you can install the print head in its original place. in the printer. After the head is installed, we check the print quality. If individual colors are blurred. not scary, which means that the flushing liquid did not come out completely. Residual liquid usually evaporates within a few minutes.

In this case, the flushing process is carried out in the same way as with a slight contamination, while the difference lies in the type of liquid used and the duration of the procedure.

It is important to remember that special fluids such as KILL-BILL should not be left on the surface of the printhead for more than 10 minutes, otherwise the varnish will be damaged. After the second method has been flushed, we dig in the gratings using the OCP RSL. This service fluid will remove residuals of special fluid, eliminating damage to the surface to be cleaned.

Special drying after rinsing is not required, but if the liquid does not dry out on its own, you will need to position the head on a clean cloth with nozzles downward. After the head is completely dry, you can repeat the piercing with service fluid.

Severe blockage in the head

If there is a strong blockage, the liquid may not penetrate through the sluices. In this case, it is worth trying to repeat the procedure several times. If that does not help, flush the pipes with a large amount of liquid.

To do this, take a thin tube and cut it into several small pieces. After that, put them on the intake holes and fill with a special liquid. The length of each tube should be no more than 6 cm.If liquid begins to penetrate through the head, you can continue the procedure and add liquid within two days.

In case of failure, you can apply the following technique. Pour a little liquid into a plastic container, place a cloth or napkin and press the PG to it. Then, using a syringe without a needle, draw out the liquid from the tube. Repeat the procedure several times, adding the cleaning agent to the tube.

In the same way, you can try to pump the liquid in both directions. To do this, repeat the previous steps, pressing the nozzle against a damp cloth. Then draw in the cleaning liquid with a syringe. Then fill the pipe and squeeze the pulled out product back. This should be done slowly and carefully so as not to damage the part.

Cleaning with a program

All inkjet printers dry out over time. Therefore, the problem with a dried head is quite common. In this regard, the printers have a special program that cleans the device itself from blockages. This can be done using a computer.

First you need to connect the printing device to your computer. Drivers are usually installed automatically. If this does not happen, you can install the program yourself. using the disk that comes with the equipment. After that, you should do the following:

  • Make sure the printer has enough ink to print.
  • Load paper.
  • Connect device to computer.
  • Open “Start”. “Control Panel”. “Devices and Printers”.
  • Right-click on the desired printer and select “Properties”.
  • Go to the section “Service”.
  • Choose between standard or deep cleaning.
  • Then wait for the printer to clean. Paints will be applied under high pressure to break through the resulting blockage.
  • At the end of the procedure, the program will offer to print a test page. If this does not happen, you should select the function “Check nozzles”.

You can clean the Canon print head by standard cleaning. If the problem persists, it is worth doing a deep cleaning. In case of failure, you can repeat the procedure after 24 hours. It is important to monitor the level of paints, as the device consumes them with increased force.

Flushing fluids

  • Distilled water.
  • Ammonia.
  • Isopropyl alcohol.
  • Glycerol.

Water should be mixed with other ingredients in a 7: 1 ratio. Mix thoroughly and strain.

Another analogue of the flushing fluid is a window cleaner. For example, “Mister Muscle” has a similar composition and is good for cleaning the printer. You can also use other products that contain ammonia.

Possible causes of blockage

Many users are faced with various problems when printing pages on the printer. The most common cause of this is the printhead. The following problems may indicate this:

  • Horizontal white streaks appear when printing.
  • Missing one or more colors.
  • A blank page comes out when printing text or graphics.

Canon produces quality equipment that rarely fails. However, it is worth flushing the head at least once a month, even if there are no problems. The malfunction can appear in one of the following cases:

  • Prolonged downtime of the printer. If printing has not been done for a long time, the ink in the device may have dried out. In this case, cleaning the printer through a special program can help. Cleaning can be done twice if necessary.
  • Printing in the absence of ink. You should definitely not try to print if the ink cartridges are missing or are running low. This could damage the print head. In this case, a complete replacement of the part will be required.
  • Mixing ink. Do not mix water-based and pigment-based paints. They leave a residue that clogs the nozzles. Plus, it’s best not to even use the same paints from different manufacturers. Refill cartridges with only one type of consumable. When buying a printer, you should immediately replace the original cartridges with those that will be used in further printing.

Over time, even if all the rules are followed, the nozzle will still clog. Then you have to clean the Canon printer head. However, the correct use of the device will help to extend the life.

Installation and configuration

In order to re-assemble the device, you need to dry the cleaning head and place it in its rightful place. Then lower the latch and return the cartridges to their place. Now you can print a test page. Do not worry if curved lines appear on the sheet during printing or the drawing (text, stamp) is poorly printed. The head may have moved and needs to be aligned. Calibration instruction:

  • Make sure there are sheets in the tray and the cartridges are full. After that, connect the device to the computer.
  • Go to “Control Panel”, then “Devices and Printers”.
  • Open the context menu and select “Properties”.
  • Go to the “Advanced” tab.
  • Check the box “Align manually”, save and go to the “Maintenance” tab.
  • Perform the Align the Printheads procedure.
  • Follow the instructions to answer the questions and complete the calibration.

After that, the printer should start working properly. It is important to print a test page once a week to prevent ink drying. This is especially true for those whose printer can stand idle for months. Regular cleaning will also help avoid serious blockages and prolong the life of the device.

How to clean the print head in a Canon printer

The print head is one of the most problematic parts in an inkjet printer. Over time, the paint dries on it, and the part may fail. That is why cleaning should be carried out regularly, without waiting for possible malfunctions. You can clean your Canon printer manually or using hardware cleaning. This function is provided in all devices of this company.

Manual flushing

It makes sense to clean a Canon printer at home only if the nozzles are intact and there are no burnouts near the nozzles. Then you can start cleaning, first preparing the following aids:

  • Any lint-free material. For example, napkins or bandages.
  • Cleaning agent.
  • Syringes with needles.
  • Plastic container.

After everything is prepared, you can flush:

  • First, moisten a cloth with a cleaning liquid and wipe the contacts from dust and dirt.
  • Then remove the sealing gum and rinse.
  • Clean the intake grilles with napkins.
  • A damp cloth should be placed in the container, and the print head should be placed on top of it.
  • Use a syringe to squeeze some liquid into the intake grilles.
  • Wait until the liquid passes through the grate and is absorbed into the napkin.
  • Repeat the procedure several times until the napkin stops getting dirty.
  • You can leave the part in the container for several hours to make sure there are no more paint residues.
  • After that, all parts should be dried and returned to their place.

It is worth repeating cleaning from time to time, even if there are no printing problems.

Removing the Print Head

On different models of the printer, the steps for removing the PG may differ. For example, “Canon pixma mg2440” or “mp250” print head flushing is done slightly differently than other models. In this regard, it is better to familiarize yourself with the instructions that come with the device.

In order to disassemble the printer and remove the head, it is necessary to lift the cover of the device. Turn it on and wait until the cartridges come out to the middle of the device, where you can easily get them. Remove them carefully, one at a time. If there are no special symbols on the device, you need to remember how they were located before removing.

The head is under the retainer. Usually there is a special lever on the right that opens access to the steam generator. In some models, the latch does not rise, but is pulled towards itself. After it was possible to open it, access to the head will appear. Carefully remove it from the device.

Top Causes of Canon Head Clogs

Most often, the head of the printing device breaks in such cases:

  • After a long period of inactivity. When the inks are dry, cleaning the print head through the device’s service program will help.
  • Due to mixing of incompatible ink for Canon printer. Water-based and pigment inks settle, curl up and forget nozzles. It is better to fill cartridges with the same consumables.
  • Due to printing with empty cartridges. Pay particular attention to the condition of the cartridges, fill them on time, because printing with the rest of the ink quickly puts the print head out of order.

With a period of time, even if all the basic rules are observed, the nozzle of the device is still clogged. Then you have to clean the print head. But correct use of the printer can greatly extend its life.

Canon printers are equipped with a software cleaning function. You just need to run a special program on the PC and the device will remove the blockages by itself. Canon ink cartridges and print head can be manually cleaned.

How to clean the head of a Canon printer using a hardware method?

In all inkjet printers, the ink dries over time. Therefore, the problem with a dried print head is quite common. In this regard, the devices have a specially provided program for cleaning the printer from blockages.

You can clean the Canon print head even without first removing it. You can carry out the cleaning process using a computer. When connecting the printer, the system must find and install the driver. But it is better to install the software from the disc that is in the set with the printing device.

On the manufacturer’s website, you can find utilities for the device. They have different settings and look of the interface. You don’t have to download them. It is also possible to wash the print head in this way:

  • Refill the cartridges.
  • Connect your printer to your computer.
  • Put some blank paper in it.
  • On a PC go to the “Control Panel”, and then to the menu “Devices and Printers”.
  • Click on the printer icon.
  • Go to Properties and Services.
  • Choose the type of cleaning.
  • The printer will start printing and the ink will break through the blockage.
  • After cleaning the Canon print head, the system will prompt you to print a test page.

Perform standard head cleaning first. It may not work at first. Repeat the procedure and print a test page. If that doesn’t work, deep clean the nozzles on your Canon printer. If this does not work, you will have to manually flush the print head.

How to clean the print head of a Canon printer?

The print head in Canon printers needs to be cleaned sometimes. Otherwise, it may clog. As a result, the print quality will deteriorate greatly. And if the ink is completely dry, the printer may stop working altogether. There are several methods for flushing a Canon print head. Let’s look at ways to clean Canon Pixma, Canon MP250 and Canon MP280 printers.

How to manually flush the print head of a Canon printer?

Open the cover to flush the print head of a Canon inkjet printer. Turn off the product and remove the print cartridges from the product. How to remove the print head will depend on the device itself. In the documents that come with the device and on the manufacturers’ website there is an instruction manual. It contains all the features of the device.

To clean the print head, prepare:

  • flushing liquid;
  • gauze, napkins or bandage;
  • syringe;
  • compact plastic container;
  • dropper tube.

Place any type of material under the print head: napkins or bandage soaked in flushing fluid. Also wash the intake holes. Remove the seals, clean them and wipe the printhead housing near the intake holes. Otherwise, the print head in the printer will not function correctly, and the ink will come in intermittently.

When all the paint is gone from the head, do not rush to remove the part. It is necessary to leave it for a couple of hours. If the part is clean, then everything turned out correctly. If necessary, clean it from flushing liquid. To do this, use a cotton pad and clean water.

In order to reassemble the printer, it is necessary to dry the print head and put it in place. After that, you need to lower the latch and return the cartridges to the right place.

Canon printer head flushing starts with slightly corrosive liquids and ends with aggressive ones. Further operation of the print head when using aggressive liquids is not guaranteed, but it is better to clean it to the end.

After cleaning the print head of your Canon printer, the machine should start operating normally. To prevent the ink from drying out, print a test page once a week. This is especially true for those users who have a printer idle for a long time.

Hot method application

Cleaning the cartridges with hot water takes longer. At the same time, the probability of a successful completion of the case increases several times.

  • The heated water is poured into a bowl or plastic container. The height of the liquid level should be about 3 cm.
  • Place the cartridge in the water (nozzles down).
  • After 3-5 minutes, replace the cooled liquid with a hot one.
  • You can complete the first stage of cleaning only after the water stops staining from ink.
  • After that, the detergent is diluted in a hot liquid. The proportions of the components should be 1: 1.
  • The cartridge nozzles are placed in the solution and left there for 2 hours.
  • After the specified time, wipe dry all wet areas.

Installation and configuration process

After the print head has been flushed, the parts are installed in the printer and adjusted. Adjustment and calibration work is carried out according to the results of printing a test page.

The complete process consists of the following steps:

  • The printhead, wiped with a dry cloth, is installed in the device.
  • Lower the latch and insert the cartridges.
  • Close the printer cover and start test print.
  • If extraneous lines or symbols appear on the sheet, then calibration is carried out. The same operation is performed with poor print quality (blur, faded colors, streaks).
  • Place at least 10 blank sheets in the tray.
  • The printer is connected to the computer.
  • Both devices connect to the network.
  • Find the “Start” button on the PC.
  • In the menu that appears, select “Control Panel”.
  • Then click on “Devices and Printers”.
  • In the window that opens, select “Properties”.
  • In this section go to the “Advanced” tab.
  • Place a check mark in front of the text “Align manually”.
  • Save changes made.
  • The next step is to find the “Service” section.
  • It selects “Head Alignment”.
  • Make the necessary changes and save the settings.

We clean the Canon printer manually

If the hardware method does not give positive results, then the nozzles are flushed manually. All the steps taken are the same for most models of printing devices. In addition, they clean the equipment body, pallet and feed rollers.

Methods for cleaning cartridges

You can clean the cartridge using hot and cold methods. In the first case, heated water will be used to achieve the desired result, and in the second, cold water.

As a result of printing with an empty cartridge

Any printing device warns the user about the lack of ink in the cartridges. If you ignore this warning, the nozzles will gradually start to clog. Continuing to ignore the prompts will burn out the nozzles. After that, it will be impossible to restore the print head.

Causes of printer blockages

Before cleaning the printer, you need to find the reason why it is clogged. Having installed it, you can choose the most effective cleaning method that gives the desired result in the shortest possible time.

Eliminate Serious Head Blockage

If the flushing of the printhead is unsuccessful, a more efficient cleaning method may be helpful. It will take a lot of time and effort to complete all the actions provided.

  • The medical dropper tube is cut into several pieces. Each one should be about 6cm long.
  • The tubes are inserted into all holes.
  • Pour in the cleaning agent.
  • If the blockage does not allow liquid to penetrate inside, then repeat the same steps several more times.
  • As soon as the plug is partially broken, the head is left for 2 days.
  • Check the cleaning level every 2 hours. Top up if necessary.
  • After 2 days, the liquid mixed with ink is drawn out with a syringe.

There is another way to get rid of a strong blockage. To carry out the work, you will additionally need a plastic container and several napkins. Having prepared these items, perform the following actions:

  • Place 2 napkins at the bottom of the plastic container.
  • A small amount of the selected detergent is poured onto them.
  • Place the part to be cleaned on top.
  • It is pressed to the bottom of the container.
  • With the help of a syringe, the liquid is drawn.
  • Repeat the operation 5 times, constantly adding a little cleaning agent.

External surfaces

The easiest way is to clean the outside of the machine. The user needs to remove the accumulated dirt and dust.

  • Before starting cleaning, you must unplug the printer.
  • To avoid damaging the plastic case, do not use abrasive cleaners.
  • Even with heavy contamination, it is not recommended to use household chemicals.
  • It is best to remove dust with a slightly damp cloth.

Canon print head

Most often, the print head of a Canon printer refuses to work well if:

After significantly long downtime
When the ink is completely dry.

In such a case, cleaning the nozzles a couple of times using the service program that is installed on the printer can help. But, if you have already done cleaning twice, but did not help, we advise you to use the function “Deep cleaning: this action can then be repeated one more time in a day. And it didn’t help? It turns out that the question is more serious, and you need to know how to clean the print head of a Canon printer correctly.

Due to the fact that several incompatible paints were mixed

Water-based paints and pigment paints resolutely do not want to cooperate, curl up, sediment, quickly clog nozzles. It’s lucky if you notice the problem in time and the nozzles have not yet had time to burn out. Also, paint of the same type from different manufacturers may be incompatible. In the best case, ink tanks need to be refilled with the same consumables. Many experts recommend not to print even new unique cartridges if you refill them later, but immediately you need to rinse and supply exactly the ink that will always be in the printer.
3. As a result of printing with an empty cartridge Carefully monitor the condition of the ink tanks, the Canon printer head is dry, fill them in time, as printing with ink residues quickly disables the ink cartridge. At first, if you do not know how to clean the nozzles of a Canon printer, the nozzles are clogged, and then, if you do not pay attention to the print quality in a timely manner, the nozzles will burn out. Here, flushing will not help, such a head cannot be restored.

Replacing a Canon Print Head

Open the cover while the printer is on to move the carriage out of the parking space. Turn off the printer. Remove the cartridges. The print head is clearly visible, but it is too early to get it.

In different models of printers, the latch holding the PG looks different, although the principle of operation is the same in almost all models. There is a lever on the right side, or the frame has a certain shape. You need to lift it up. A slightly different principle in the MG5440 model. The latch here is a bar with the image of ink colors, which does not rise up: you need to pull it towards you until it clicks. The PG is now free, tilt it forward and gently pull it out of the printer.
Cleaning Canon Printer Nozzles
Make sure that the steam generator of your printer has no burnouts near the nozzles, the nozzles are intact, and flushing

Burnouts in the area of nozzles
has the meaning. If so, prepare:
1.washing liquid;
2. gauze, napkins or bandage;
3. syringe;
4. low plastic container, where the steam generator will fit;
5.the tube from the medical dropper.
Cover the table with newspapers and place under the SG a piece of bandage, rolled several times, soaked in flushing liquid. Use another piece of cloth, also moistened with the cleaner, to gently blot the intake grilles. Remove the rubber bands, rinse them, and wipe the head body thoroughly around the intake holes. Drying of ink in these places is fraught with depressurization of the system. As a result, air may be sucked in, the Canon print head will not work correctly, and ink will flow intermittently. It is a good idea to periodically clean the O-rings as a preventive measure, even when there are no printing problems.

How to flush the Canon print head

Important: you can not wash the blockages with alcohol and vodka. Dry or curdled paint gives the remaining liquid to ethyl alcohol, further soaking becomes problematic or impossible.
Mister Muscle, blue or green, has proven itself in the best way. Its effect is comparable in its results with specialized flushing fluids, but the price is significantly lower. You can use other window cleaners, the composition of which is close to Mr. Muscle and contains ammonia.

Cleaning the Canon Pixma Print Head

A little liquid is instilled into each airlock with a syringe and needle. Once the drop is absorbed, add more. Change the bandage as it gets dirty and keep dripping until the liquid passing through the head no longer stains the color of the ink. If the liquid is not absorbed very well, heat it up to 50-60 degrees. To enhance the effect, you can use a more aggressive product, following the instructions for its use, how to clean a Canon inkjet printer.
When each of the sluices begins to absorb well and skip rinsing, set the head to settle. After an hour, the fabric should not have strong ink drips. This means that the flushing of the printheads of Canon inkjet printers was successful, the head can be returned to the printer. Before printing, be sure to clean the nozzles of the cleaning agent using the printer service program.
If the sluices still do not allow liquid to pass through, you can try to build up some pressure from above. It is necessary to put on tubes about 5 cm long on each of the intake holes and fill them with cleaning liquid.
In this form, the structure can be left for a long time, periodically adding flushing. If fluid still leaves the tube through the problematic sluices, continue the procedure for two days.
When the fluid level in one of the tubes does not decrease, you can try the next technique. Pour a little product into the container, put a piece of cloth and press the steam generator nozzles to it. Insert a syringe without a needle into the tube and, gently pushing the plunger towards you, pull the cleaning agent through the nozzles.
Do it several times, pouring clean liquid into the pan. Pour the used rinse out of the syringe, then refill the tube and leave for another hour. The process can be repeated several times.
Important: the head must be pressed tightly against the wet cloth so as not to draw air into the nozzles.
If now the liquid leaves the tubes at approximately the same rate, the steam generator was able to flush.

Flushing the printheads of Canon inkjet printers

Many Canon inkjet printer users sometimes have print quality problems. In most cases, the printhead is the source of the problem. Here we will look at the quality flushing of the Canon printer head. Therefore, let’s take a closer look at flushing a Canon printer.

In this material, I will try to help you determine the cause of the deterioration in the print quality of your printer (or MFP) and how to get out of the situation (if possible). What can I offer you. the result of my experience in repairing Canon inkjet printers and the experience of others who have found solutions through discussion in other forums and conferences. This method is not the only correct one. I just came to this option through long experiments, trial and error, and discussion of flushing options in different forums, in the end this method is more convenient for me and over the past 6-7 years I have not found a more convenient (for myself) flushing option. I must say right away: the problems arising from the use of CISS are not considered here. this is a separate “song”, we will consider the problems that arise after refilling ink tanks, as well as when using both original ink tanks and compatible.

I hope that I will not reveal a great secret if I say that the ink that is sold “in bulk” and in any container (except for original ink tanks and cartridges) are, so to speak, compatible, and sometimes their properties differ significantly from the original ones. and when using such inks, the print head of the printer operates in a mode far from optimal (calculated by the manufacturer), which leads to premature wear of the print head and deterioration of print quality. But such ink has one indisputable advantage in comparison with the original ones. cheapness, which is why they are so popular, because it is no secret to anyone that for three or four refills, for example, a set of CLI-8 ink tanks, the saved amount is comparable to the cost of a new printer.

So, what are the most common causes of print quality problems that can be encountered during operation:

Canon Pixma print head malfunction. characteristic manifestations: blank sheet at the exit from the printer (complete absence of traces of ink on the sheet), absence of one (or several) colors (complete absence of traces of ink of this color on the sheet), “striped print”. stripes across the movement of the sheet, of the same width, with a clear border and the same spacing. (help. flushing the Canon print head)

Clogged Canon print head. characteristic manifestations: thin white stripes across the movement of the sheet when printing photographs, stripes across the movement of the sheet, of different widths, with blurred borders.

Other malfunctions that lead to distortion of the printed image.

One way to flush the print head of a Canon printer

To flush the Canon SG you will need:

I would like to draw your attention to the fact that liquids containing ethyl alcohol (vodka, etc.) are not suitable for flushing. ethyl alcohol tends to draw out moisture residues from dried or coagulated (due to mixing of different types) ink, which in the future significantly complicates washing, and in case of severe blockages makes further washing impossible. Also, it is not advisable to use acidic liquids and mixtures for flushing Canon print heads. this leads to the destruction of the internal structures of the head.

MM. this tool has been widely used for several years for flushing printheads, the flushing capacity is higher than homemade mixtures (almost at the level of special flushing liquids, but much cheaper), it is sold in almost all regions, over the years of use. there were no negative consequences of the use.

MB. in terms of flushing ability, it is somewhat better than MM (of course, it feels like when I compared the flushing speed of two printheads with almost the same clogging, but you understand, a full-fledged comparative test cannot be done), the price (at least in the Moscow region) is almost two. three times lower than MM.

We select the liquid that we will use and we collect it into the syringe. it is more convenient for her to use a syringe.

Cut off two pieces of the bandage, roll one about
By the size of the lower platform of the Canon print head, place it in a prepared container and slightly moisten it with flushing liquid. Simply crush the second piece into a lump and also slightly moisten.

With this second piece of bandage we wipe the lower part of the Canon print head from dirt (sometimes it is difficult to do with one piece)

If you need to first check the head for print. whether all ink colors pass through the head, it is advisable to wipe the lower head area more thoroughly so that dirt does not make its own corrections to the print.
If you rinse the head immediately. it is not necessary to wipe clean, all the same, during the washing process, this piece of bandage, as it gets dirty, changes.

READ  How To Connect Printer Ink Tank Wireless 415

We put the Canon print head with the lower platform on a pre-prepared (in 2.) piece of bandage moistened with MM or MB. Then we cut off a few more pieces of the bandage, crush one of them again into a ball and slightly moisten it, wipe the grilles of the intake holes (do not press hard, they can be damaged)

We remove the sealing gum of the ink tanks (it is advisable to rinse them under running water.Sometimes the dried ink on them solidifies into solid lumps and interferes with the sealing of the connection, which leads to air leakage and poor ink flow into the head), it is also advisable to wipe the places under the seals. We drip the flushing liquid, one drop at a time, onto the ink intake grids.

As soon as the liquid leaves (flows through the head), we drip more and more. As the piece of bandage on which the Canon print head stands gets dirty. change it to clean. As soon as the bandage stops staining ink flowing from the head with flushing liquid. flushing is almost complete.
Take a clean piece of bandage, roll it up (2.), moisten it strongly with flushing liquid and put the head on it for about an hour. If after an hour there are no bright traces of ink on the bandage, only weak stains. you can put the head in the printer and check the print quality (after doing cleaning two or three times in order to remove the remaining flushing liquid from the head).

If the flushing liquid does not pass on one or several flowers, but remains a drop on the grid, wait two. three minutes (drip on the rest, let them rinse), wipe off with a piece of bandage and drip again, and so on five times. six, as long as you have enough patience. If the drop on the grate no longer turns into the color of the ink, but it does not flow either (and more than an hour has passed since the beginning of washing). proceed to the actions recommended for severe blockages.

If you did not quickly rinse, or there is no time to waste away over the print head of a Canon printer and drip one drop of flushing liquid. go to the next procedure. soaking.
After step 6, we select pieces of tubes (5 centimeters long), of such a diameter that they are put on the ink receiving “pipes” with little effort, pour the flushing liquid into them and go about our business, from time to time looking at the liquid level in the tubes and as necessary, add and replace a piece of bandage under the head with a fresh one, as soon as it stops absorbing the liquid flowing out of the head and forming a puddle in a container with the head.
If the liquid level in one or more tubes does not decrease, or decreases much more slowly than in the rest. change the bandage under the head to a fresh one, add liquid to the tubes and leave for several hours (I usually leave it overnight).

7a. This is how the tubes on the QY6-0054 head look

I usually, with a strong blockage, after some colors have washed out and do not leave any more marks on the bandage, and in the tube put on the nozzle of the problematic color, the level of the flushing liquid does not decrease. I do this:

I remove the extra tubes, leaving only on the color that needs to be rinsed. I pick up an adapter from the tubes from the head branch pipe to the syringe (the syringe plunger is in the lower position). I change the bandage under the head to a clean one, moisten it strongly with flushing liquid (you can even pour liquid into the container with the head, but not very much so that the bottom of the container just closes (liquid level. 2-3mm)). Pressing the head against the moistened bandage (so that air is not sucked in), I smoothly extend the syringe plunger, trying to pull the flushing liquid through the head nozzles into the syringe.

I pour out the liquid that has been typed into the syringe (it is undesirable to reuse it), add fresh liquid under the head and repeat the broach, and so on two or three times, then I set it to soak for an hour so that the flushing liquid that gets into the head dissolves the dried ink properly, then again I stretch the liquid until it passes without effort (pay attention to the last time so as not to draw in air. the air lock in the head will interfere with the normal passage of the liquid), then I put the tubes on all colors again, fill them with flushing liquid and control how much the liquid level evenly decreases on different colors (except for black). If the level decreases approximately the same (it cannot decrease exactly the same, due to the different lengths and bends of the ink channels of different colors, inside the head). the difference is about five. eight millimeters. head flushed.

light extreme: pulling the flushing fluid with one hand (into the other with a camera), I do not recommend it. it is more convenient to do it with two hands.

The flush fluid drawn through the Canon print head is clean. you can check how well the liquid passes through the head by gravity.

I want to draw your attention: If, when trying to draw liquid into a syringe, it does not go at all, do the opposite, i.e. try to push the flushing fluid out of the syringe through the nozzles. not worth it if you do not have sufficient experience in flushing the heads. This can be done only if, when drawing in the liquid, it is even bad, but it goes. And here you need to take into account that the permissible pressure at which the head does not fail depends on the type of head, the degree of blockage, the clogged color (the black pigment nozzles can withstand greater pressure), the volume of the syringe (the larger the volume of the syringe, the less chances of damaging the head), liquid / air ratio in the syringe (air serves as a shock absorber).

If, after repeated pulling, the liquid still passes through with difficulty and you are absolutely sure that further soaking will not work (i.e. you have soaked the head for more than two days, but there is still no shift for the better), you can try to drive the liquid through the head in both directions (in the same position of the head, pressed against the napkin by the nozzles). broach / purge, when purging (forcing liquid from the syringe through the nozzles), it is not advisable to press strongly on the syringe plunger.
In practice, if a 10 ml syringe is used for purging, the syringe plunger is in the up position and there is an air gap (more than one division) between the plunger and the liquid in the syringe. the piston can immediately be lowered (smoothly, not jerkily) by no more than three divisions, and as the liquid passes, add one division at a time. For almost all types of heads (except BCI-21), the pressure generated during blowing will not lead to destruction of the nozzle plate. If there is no air gap in the syringe between the piston and the liquid, then the piston must be pressed very smoothly. in this case, any sharp pressing on the syringe plunger can create a pressure fatal for the head. And in general, from personal experience: when blowing out the head, the air gap in the syringe between the piston and the liquid gives a more gentle mode, compensates for the uneven movement of the syringe piston when pressed and smooths out pressure surges, so that even if the hand trembles, the head will remain unharmed.

If all of the above didn’t help. there is nothing to lose anyway, you have to go to extreme methods of cleaning the head, but before you move on to these methods. Consider if, with gentle flushing methods, the probability of damage to the head is minimal, then using the methods indicated below. the likelihood of damage to the head increases significantly.

Flushing the print head takes patience and perseverance. According to the statistics of the workshop in which I work, 14 out of 20 printheads are washed with gentle methods, and most of the mechanical damage to the printheads. the result of the haste of users trying to rinse the head quickly. Slightly clogged heads are usually flushed in one. three days, a strong blockage can be washed out for up to a week, from my practice. The longest flush of the eight-color QY6-0055 head lasted 18 days, usually after the first hour. two washes, a thorough examination of the nozzle pads, and a test print (not flushed to the end of the head) can determine whether it makes sense to waste time on further flushing. In order to make it easier for you to diagnose. at the beginning, it is described in detail about the most common malfunctions of the printheads, with examples of the resulting images, so that you do not waste time flushing the head, which flushing will no longer help.

And further. after applying the above flushing methods, dry the printhead before installing it in the machine. is not required (if, of course, everything was done carefully), but after the methods that will be indicated below. It is advisable to dry the head with a hair dryer (trying not to overheat too much, so that after warming up, you can hold the head with your hand without scalding), or even better. repeatedly. dry it, let it cool for 15.20 minutes and dry it again, and after the end of drying, it is advisable to drip it a little so that it does not turn out to be dry during the installation of the head into the device. better when there is flushing liquid in the ink channels of the head.

Everything is the same as during purging, only without an air gap in the syringe, between the piston and the liquid, and raise the head slightly above the container where the liquid will drain. Force on the syringe plunger. at your discretion. If you are not sure that you can feel the moment when the pressure on the syringe plunger is better not to increase. pick up the tube, between the syringe and the head, longer (10 centimeters 15), this compensates for the excessive pressure in the head, in addition, when the pressure is too high. the tube will just pop off. Everything around will be splashed with flushing fluid, but the head will be intact. The final flushing result can be determined by the jets of liquid flowing out of the head.

well, in general, the syringe must be completely filled with flushing liquid.

something like this looks like a “stream” of liquid flowing out of the head when the blockage has not yet been washed, or when the nozzles are destroyed (the destruction of the nozzles is determined visually)

and this is how a shower looks like when the color is completely washed (in this case, black).
