How to Print White Color on a Printer

How to Print on a Color Printer. Facts You Should Know

Color laser printers are becoming more and more important in our lives. Without them, it is already impossible to imagine the work of offices and home offices. But how much do we know about them themselves, about how printing takes place on a Color printer? We offer a small selection of facts about the printer and the printing process.

What can be printed on a color laser printer

When you need to print documents on a Color printer, such as reports with color graphs and vivid illustrations, then a color laser printer is what you need. It uses a print technology that prevents toner from absorbing and spreading across the paper, and produces lines that are crisp and sharp, which cannot be achieved with inkjet printing. Thanks to this, printing on a color laser printer makes it possible to create spectacular graphics. Calendars, advertisements, various posters and posters are also printed using laser printers. Photo printing on a color laser printer is possible if there are no high requirements for print quality. To print a photo on a Color printer, while obtaining accurate colors and high resolution, you should still resort to an inkjet printer.

Paper for printing on a color laser printer

As a rule, when talking about printing on a laser printer, we mean printing on an A4 Color printer, since most of the laser printers print on paper of this particular format. Recently, models of printers that print on A3 leaves and also use paper in rolls have begun to appear on the market. The available opportunity to print on paper for offset printing is very much appreciated by mini-printing houses, in which laser printers are usually installed.

Duplex printing

Duplex (two-sided) printing is useful for those users who often print documents with text on both sides: contracts, letterheads, accounting reports, letters. Duplex printing saves paper by using one sheet instead of two. Disabling duplex printing is advisable if the printer is used exclusively for printing home photos and short text documents. In this case, you do not need the function at all, and it is best to cancel the duplex printing.

Black and white printing on a color printer

Typically, the lower limit of the resolution at which black and white printing is possible is 600×600 dpi, the upper limit is 1200×1200. There is no fundamental difference in how a black and white printer works and how to print on a Color printer. The only difference is the amount of dye toner. It happens that you only need b / w printing on a Color printer. In the instructions for your printer model, you will surely find all the necessary information on how to disable color printing in the printer.

Printing on a color laser technological printer is still a very complex process, which leads to the high cost of THESE printers.

Most laser printers use the same printing mechanism as copiers.

Two factors affect the printing speed of laser printers: the time spent on mechanical paper feeding and the speed with which the data received from the PC is processed and a raster page is formed for printing.

Laser printers are page printers, i.E. Forming a whole page for printing at once, unlike dot-matrix or ink-jet printers, forming separate terms. Therefore, the unit of measure for the print speed of a laser printer is pages per minute. Typically, this value averages 14 pages per minute. High-performance printers used in computer networks run at speeds of over 20 pages per minute.

print, white, color, printer

The vertical and horizontal resolution of the laser printer is due to the following:

  • Vertical resolution is in accordance with the pitch of the drum and for most printers is 1/600 “(in cheaper models. 1/300”)
  • Horizontal resolution depends on the number of dots in one line and the accuracy with which the laser beam was aimed.

The printing process of a laser printer requires processing entire pages. This, of course, requires a large amount of computation. Therefore, not only the processor, but also the amount of memory of the printer is decisive for the printing speed. The lower memory limit for a black-and-white printer is 1 MB. Color laser printers have significantly more memory.

The cost of printing on a color laser printer is inversely related to the cost of the printer. That is, the cost of printing will be the higher, the cheaper the printer you buy.

Despite the increasing competition from inkjet printers, laser printers are still popular. Of course, a color laser printer is still far more expensive than an inkjet printer. But this difference quickly pays for itself in durability and ease of maintenance.

How to set the default color printer to black and white | Small business

Stephen Melendez Updated January 16, 2019.

Many of the printers you would buy for your home or office today can print in color or black and white. Sometimes you need to set up a color printer to print in black and white to create a document that’s easier to copy, or just to save money on color ink. You can use Microsoft Windows or Apple macOS to configure the printer to use black ink for each print job only, or choose whether to print in Color or Black and White in a separate print job.

Color and grayscale printing

When you normally print in color to a Color printer, the printer will use a color cyan, magenta, and yellow ink cartridge to mix any colors you want to print. Black ink cartridge delivers black and gray where needed on the page.

If you are printing in black and white, the printer will often use so-called grayscale printing to approximate the light and dark aspects of the image by introducing different shades of gray. Grayscale printing requires only black ink, so it does not and does NOT your colored ink will be depleted. You can often still distinguish aspects of designs and images with grayscale.

Remember, black and white printing. It’s not just one shade of black and blank areas of the page. Grayscale printing allows black and white to approximate colors without using color inks.

Change printer default settings

If you are using Microsoft Windows, it is easy to change the configuration of your printer through the built-in settings menu. Click the “Start” menu, then click “Settings” and select “Devices” then “Printers and Scanners”. Find your printer in the list of printers, Click its icon and click Manage.

From the Control Menu, Click Print Options. Scroll through the menu to see the various configuration options, and find the option to choose whether you want to print in color or black and white. Select “black and white” and set any other desired settings, such as paper size.

You can also access the Print Settings menu when printing from a standalone application. Click Settings in the Print Menu and Change any desired settings before printing. If you want to change the settings for one print job, you can do so in the Settings menu and then cancel it when you are finished printing.

Change preferences on Mac

If you are using a Mac computer, you can still set your printer to use color or black and white as you like. You can do this through the Print Dialog Menu and save the settings as “preset” for later use.

Click “File” and “Print” in most programs to load the print menu. Click “Show Details” to view more information about the print configuration. Click the drop-down menu to see the various adjustment options and choose Color / Quality. Find and select a black and white grayscale option. Name will differ slightly from printer model to printer model.

Once you’ve chosen the correct color setting and made any other changes, you can save your settings. To do this, Click the Presets drop-down menu and click Save Current Settings as Preset. “Give your new Presets a name so you can find it later and choose whether you want it to apply to any printer, connection to your computer, or just the current one. Click “OK”.

Next time you print Use the Presets drop-down list to find the gift of your choice and reuse those settings. You can create one preset with your desired options for color printing and one for black and white printing.

HP inkjet printers. Printing with black ink only (Windows)

Depending on your printer, you can print with black ink when the color ink cartridge is empty. Most printers using Integrated Print Head (IPH) cartridges can print without the tri-color cartridge. Other types of printers only print when all ink colors are available. All ink colors are used for periodic maintenance and to prevent clogging and other print quality problems.

If one of the following error messages appears, the printer might be designed to print only if all of the cartridges have ink:

You must replace the empty ink cartridge to continue printing. The steps to replace the ink cartridge vary from printer to printer. For complete instructions on how to replace an ink cartridge, see HP Customer Support. Enter your printer (if prompted), then search for replacement cartridges.

How to print in black and white on Mac

Many printers used with Mac support black and white or grayscale printing. Black and white printing can offer an easy way to increase the contrast of documents, but it can also reduce the amount of color ink used when printing a document, article, or web page.

Black and white printing on a Mac is pretty straightforward, but this feature is sometimes hidden in the print preferences, depending on the printer set up on the Mac and the print driver you’re using. We’ll look at two ways to print black and white from a Mac.

Keep in mind that which black and white printing method is available for your Mac usually depends on the printer you are using and whether that printer directly supports black and white printing or not. Some printers DO NOT support black and white printing at all.

How to print in black and white from Mac

Some printers make black and white printing easier. If you go to print a file and immediately see the Black and White radio button, set it to print in black and white only, otherwise here’s how to print in black and white from a Mac.

  • From the file, document, web page, or article you want to print, go to the File menu and select Print as usual.
  • On the print options screen, select Show Details to display more information about print options.
  • Black & White Printing Option 1. If available, select the Black & White check box.
  • Black & White Printing Option 2. Find Black / White / Grayscale Printing Options
  • Expand the options menu and select “Paper Type / Quality”.
  • Now Click on the little text “Color Options” and next to the “Color” box select “Grayscale”.
  • Optionally select Black Ink Only next to Grayscale Mode.

Now select “Print” as usual to print the selected document in black and white.

It can be used for black and white or grayscale printing on many printers.

Sometimes the black and white options will appear under Color Options as Monochrome or Black Ink Cartridge Only, and the vocabulary may differ slightly depending on the printer, printer drivers, and the version of Mac OS you are using.

This is a good printing trick in general, but is especially useful when you are trying to conserve ink when printing web pages or articles that do NOT benefit from using color ink.

Grayscale or black and white print options are missing on Mac?

If the device does not support black and white printing, you will not have the option for black and white printing.

If you are going to print grayscale or grayscale prints on a Mac, but this option is missing from the Print window, but you know your printer supports grayscale and / or grayscale printing, you may have to follow a few basic steps for troubleshooting. This usually means either resetting the printing system in Mac OS or deleting the printer, updating the driver and re-adding the printer.

  • Remove and re-add the printer from printer options in system preferences
  • Reboot the printing system to Mac OS. This will delete the printer as well and you have to add it again

You may need to download new drivers or Updated drivers for your printer, depending on the printer itself and the printer manufacturer.

This only works on a printer that supports grayscale or black and white printing. You cannot force a printer that does not have this feature to suddenly get a feature it does not support. With that said, the second option would be to convert the document to black and white or grayscale and then print it (even through a printer like Plasma black and white directly) and that might work too, but that’s a topic for another post.

You must replace the empty ink cartridge to continue printing. The steps to replace the ink cartridge vary from printer to printer. For complete instructions on how to replace an ink cartridge, see HP Customer Support. Enter your printer (if prompted), then search for replacement cartridges.

Using the Quick Selection Tool (W) (Tool: Quick Selection) select the area you want to make colored. Of course, you can use other selection methods as well. It’s just that in this case, it is much easier and more efficient to work with such a tool.

A little tip: always try to duplicate the selection into a separate layer, this will be much more effective and in the event that something triples you in color, you can return to the original without any problems.

To duplicate the selection press (CtrlJ). As a result, a new layer will be created, on which the Selected Area will be displayed:

Select the duplicate layer and on the toolbar select the menu Image.Adjustments.Color Balance. (Image. Correction. Color Balance):

The dialog box of the same name will open, thanks to which you can add color:

Colorbalance. This gives the desired color.

Tonebalance. Allows you to control the contrast of tones. By default, the switch is set to Midtones. In the process of adjusting the color, I recommend experimenting and switching to Shadow (Shadows) or Highlights (Highlights). Thus, you can make something brighter or darker. Move the sliders, select the desired value:

Now I will add color to the hair. Selecting the hair with the same Quick Selection Tool (W) (Tool: Quick Selection). Then duplicate the selection on a new layer (CtrlJ):

Select Image.Adjustments.Color Balance again. (Image. Correction. Color Balance.)

Now it remains to change the color of the coat:

Take a closer look at the hair, it is easy to see that the background has also been colored with it. How to fix it? Very simple by erasing this area with a soft eraser or by applying a mask.

Success in creative work. Practice more and DON’T get discouraged if something doesn’t work the first time. Everything is in our hands, so you shouldn’t let them down.

Black and white photography and color

Although we are accustomed to talking about photography in black and white, it would technically be more correct to call it one-color, since one or another intensity of one color. black. is used to indicate shadows. In principle, nothing prevents you from using brown instead of black (you’ve probably seen such photos, they are also called sepia), or blue, green and other colors.
What is the difference between monochrome (black and white) and color photography? In the first case, we use the intensity of the light and, so to speak, the intensity of the shadow. Color photography also uses different color tones. One of the tricks is that if we shoot, for example, a girl in a blouse of a saturated green color with an equally saturated red pattern, then in a color photo everything will turn out more or less wonderful, and in black and white the whole blouse will be equally dark gray.
We can say that the life of monochrome photographers was quite simple. they had to consider only one parameter, but at the same time it was boring.

Why all of the above?
You have made a wonderful color picture. you are using a modern digital camera and, having enjoyed it enough on the monitor screen, having learned all its dear to heart details, we suddenly decide to SUBMIT your masterpiece for use as an illustration in a book of literary friends, and not so advanced in photography. Or donates it to be published in a local monochrome newspaper. Or maybe we just decide to print it on an office laser printer. In short, you get a simple black and white photograph, only for some reason it is somehow inexpressive. And in general NOT black and white, but some kind of gray, faded. Where has all that charm gone?
Those who have caught the era of film photography subconsciously understand that even a single-color film would make a better picture.
Why has your masterpiece lost its former charm? It was just that the photograph required processing using channels. DO NOT postpone. open any photo in GIMP, find the “channels” tab, you will see that there are three of them, according to the number of basic colors: red, green, blue. Simply turning channels on or off can help correct a color image for black and white printing. Try it!

How to make a black and white photo in color

Each of us has an old family album at home or just some old black and white photos. And how do you like this idea. to take and make photos in color, fill them with paints?

In this tutorial, we’ll look at a simple way to turn a black and white photo into color. For work, I took a black and white photo of a cheetah, this photo during the lesson we will make in color.

We open our black and white photo using Photoshop and first of all we see that the photo is locked. this can be seen by the lock in the layer. Unlock it so that you can work with it in the future by double-clicking the left mouse button on this lock.

Now let’s start coloring! First, let’s color the background of the photo, make it green, for this select the layer of our photo by clicking on it 1 time with the left mouse button and select in the top menu of the Layers panel. New Adjustment Layer. Color Balance.

After this manipulation, a pop-up window will appear with the settings of the adjustment layer, just click “OK”, leaving the default settings. After that, a panel with “sliders” will appear in the upper right corner, with the help of which we will adjust the color of our background. Move the “sliders” and achieve the shade you need.

This gives us a second layer, where our photo is completely green. Now we Color the cheetah, to do this, again Select the layer with the black and white photo by clicking on it 1 time with the left mouse button in the lower right corner of the program panel, and hide the layer with a green tint for a while by clicking once with the left mouse button on the “Eye »Near this layer.

Now we will select the cheetah, for this we will use the “Quick Selection” tool, select this tool in the left panel of the program and adjust its size. After that, let’s start selecting the cheetah, while holding the left mouse button, select the area we need, if we have climbed over the edge or selected too large an area, you can wipe it by holding the “Alt” key and the left mouse button.

Having selected the cheetah again, select in the top menu “Layers”. “New Adjustment Layer”. “Color Balance” and again move the sliders to achieve the desired shade.

During painting, in any case, the fields of layers will climb on top of each other, in order to fix (erase or add) you need to select the desired layer by clicking on it with the left mouse button and using the eraser tool to erase unnecessary edges of the layer. If, on the contrary, it is necessary to finish drawing the layer a little, then select the “brush” tool and paint over the errors with white. For soft transitions, choose a “soft brush” and the pressure mode can be set to less than 100%.

And so, we now have 3 layers. this is a black and white photo, an image of a green tint and a selected cheetah of a yellow-brown tint. Now substituting our green background for the cheetah, for this, turn on the visibility of our image with a green tint again, Select it (by clicking the left mouse button) and simply using the Eraser tool erase the cheetah on it, this will reveal our layer with the painted cheetah.

Gently erase the edges of the cheetah (hairs, etc.) with a soft eraser, while you can adjust the pressure of the eraser, in places where semi-transparency of the layer is necessary. For convenience, remember to adjust the size of the eraser. In case of blots (if you have erased the excess), touch up this place with a white brush.

Well, paint the cheetah’s eyes in the same way: select the layer with the original photo, select the eyes with the Quick Selection tool and create a new adjustment layer with the desired color balance. I made them bright yellow).

In order to make the color balance more vivid, in the tone setting panel (the one with the slider), select the “Light” label in the “Tone” section, as in the screenshot below and Adjust the brightness sliders.

So, thanks to NOT complex manipulations of the flexible and powerful Photoshop program, we get not a bad result in the end.

How to make a photo in color in Photoshop

Today we will learn how to turn a non-color photo into a color one. I will make a reservation right away, for those who are looking for a button “make a photo in color” in this article. Alas, such a button has not yet been invented. You can desaturate the photo with one click, but you will NOT be able to color it with the same click, because a black and white photograph has no information about the color. So you have to work with your hands and fill our black and white image with color information in the most literal sense. Some plugins for Photoshop do a good job of coloring photos, but now we will NOT discuss any plugins that I don’t understand where to get them. Let’s talk about what is available for coloring in Photoshop itself. And there are many.

The method of coloring a photo is simple and primitive. A five-year-old child can master it in 10 minutes. I will tell you about all the methods of coloring a photo, and also show how this simple operation can be brought to a new, more professional level. So let’s get started.

The easiest way to make a photo with color (blend color)

To colorize a photo, you will need to know how to use the Brush Tool, as well as have an understanding of the work of the second Photoshop tools. It does NOT hurt to be able to highlight areas of a photo and the basic knowledge in layers and masks, which you can glean from my article Masks in Photoshop. In this tutorial, you will see in practice how you can automate work in Photoshop using masks, and have full control over the color settings.

I borrowed a photograph from the collection of a photographer friend of mine. Black and white photographs look mysterious and conceptual, but what if we colorize it slightly? Create a new layer on top of the photo Layer New Layer or click on the small layer thumbnail in the Windows Layers palette

Now select the Brush Tool, a brush with soft edges, make it bigger and Drag the mouse over the new layer with some red color. The natural result is a red daub on a masterfully taken photograph. It doesn’t suit us. To paint red, you need to change the settings of the layer itself. These settings are called Color Mode blending settings. You can find them only on the Layers palette, above the layers themselves. Click on this dropdown menu and you’ll see a whole list of different blend modes. The point is that by changing the blending mode of the color, we are setting new rules according to which the color of the layer interacts with the colors of the layers that are below. The blending mode we need is called Color, and its meaning is simple. it paints the image in the color we want, while maintaining the naturalness of the colors. Set the Color mode, choose the color you want, and color the girl’s hair.

That’s all. Quite easy isn’t it? Save me the hassle of stretching this process over 10 pages and demonstrating how I will paint step by step, skin, gloves, eyes, and so on. The coloring depends on your imagination, and the realism, on the quality of work and the naturalness of the selected colors. Work with a brush, adjust the size, adjust the parameters of the invisibility opasity and fill, which you will find in the Windows Brush Options menu

I sketched this one in a couple of minutes of work. The layer blending mode is Normal. I hope you are convinced that making a color photo in Photoshop is very simple.

And this is what happens if you change the layer blending settings to Color.

Coloring a photo using layer styles

Now let’s start to deepen and complicate the process. Complication, it is not in order to make work more difficult, but in order to make work easier. You know, all these calla lilies had one layer, of course, perfectly, but it is more suitable for creative personalities, those who like to sit and wind a clay pot on a gurney for hours. To smear one color and another on this layer is probably convenient for the artists from the academy, who were banned from Google, so they still have not heard of Photoshop. Alas, they even draw cartoons on a computer, 1000 drawings on paper, Which then quickly turn over remained in the 20th century. Personally, as a designer, I would like to have more control over the color and settings. I would like to efficiently and quickly tweak the colors through the menu, not redraw the layer.

How would we bring in more control over the image? For a start, it would be a good idea to split one layer into several layers. Let’s create really a lot of layers. And each layer will be responsible for its own area. Create a layer “hair”, layer “eyes”, “gloves”, “nails” and others. I started coloring the photo myself, creating thematic layers for this. Now the control process is more manageable, at least the coloring is NOT on one layer. Any part of the coloring can be muted, turned off, in other words, you can do with it everything that can be done with the layer. Other paint layers will not be affected.

But all of this still doesn’t make much sense. The color of all layers remains arbitrary. On the “Hair” layer, you can paint with both blue and red as before. In other words, calla lilies still had, but more manageable calla lilies had, divided into sectors. I would also like to control the color. I want to change the entire color with one click, and not sculpt with a brush constantly redoing the result with my hands. I’ll show you how this can be done using layer styles.

Create a layer and name it “Hair”. Dye your hair any color, even green. Go to the layers palette and set the Fill to 0% This way what you painted will become invisible.

Roughly speaking, we create a kind of raster area, turn off the fill fill and apply layer styles to the area. The area itself does not become invisible, as is the case with Opasity. The area becomes invisible, but not the area itself. Therefore, the applied layer styles will be visible. But if we set Opasity to 0%, the entire layer, along with the styles, would become invisible. We will set the area to a certain style, but since for coloring we still have to apply layer blending, the original color must be removed by setting Fill to 0%, otherwise it will appear through and we will NOT get the desired result.

Now create a Layer Layer Style Color Overlay for the layer. Set the Blend mode to Color. And in the window with the color set the color we need.

READ  How to print a photo on a printer from a computer

If you forgot to set the fill to 0%, you can do this in the same window, in the Blending Options tab. If you did this in the Layers palette, then the fill will already be set as it should.

Now we have full control over the color. Give each layer a different style. A double click on the layer will automatically bring up the Layer Styles, where you can change the hair color with one click. You do not have to re-smear everything 100 times, the color changes in one second, while you see the result in he Laina mode. Color selection just got easier.

This is what I call color control. Now let’s go deeper.

Coloring photos through fill lyers

You know what I think. These attempts to control the image are certainly cool, but somehow difficult. And if you need to change the color? You have to constantly click on the layer, call the style window, go to the Color Overlay tab and change something there. Not a quick process if you want to quickly change layer colors. Of course, if we have 2 layers it is not difficult, but if we had 102 layers? This process should be made even easier. This is where the real work with layers begins. Now I will show you how to make a photo in color using fill layers.

Create a new fill layer Layers New Fill Layers Solid Color The fill layer completely covers the photo, fill the entire working surface. We just don’t need this. As you can see from the layers palette, the fill layer is created with a ready-made empty mask. We need to repaint the white mask with a black mask to hide the entire fill layer. You can name the mask icon and select Delete.

Or select the mask icon and do the same from the Layer Layer Mask Delete menu. Now create a mask from scratch, not empty, but hiding. We did this in my article Masks in Photoshop. Select Layer Layer Mask Hide All

And you can go the other way. The mask is the same work surface as the layer itself. The mask can be drawn by hand with any painting tool. For example, the Brush Tool. Only unlike a layer, the mask is created in gradation from black to white, where white is the visible part, and black is the hiding part. Click on the mask thumbnail in the layer palette. The mask must be selected so that you can paint on it. Then select the Paint Bucket Toll and the color black. Click on the work surface. An empty mask has become a hiding mask.

Now select the regular Brush Tool and white color. Create a hair, rice mask on top of the mask just like you would paint on a layer. You can enjoy all the benefits of brush settings. Make it transparent, resize, soft edges. All this will only affect how much our mask is visible. And of course, do not forget to set the layer blending mode to Color, so that you can immediately see the result of painting. We could go the second way. For example, leave the mask white and paint the entire area around the hair with black. But you must admit, it is somewhat tedious to cover up 70% of the work area. And of course do not forget to work on a mask, the mask must be selected. This can be done by a simple click on its icon in the layers palette.

In total, you should have a fill layer with a hair mask. The advantage of this method is that you do not need to dig into color settings every time, which is not clear where. One simple click on the layer’s fill brings up the color selection window.

Paint over other areas of the photo in the same way. In Some Areas where Color does not tolerate soft transitions, you will need to create selection areas. For example, in the case of nails, I created selections with the Magic Wand Tool and Polygonal Lasso Toll. In other cases, I got by with changing the brush sizes and switching between soft edges and hard edges.

Once you’ve created all the layers in the photo, you can create other tint layers that create hair tints, shimmers, and other lighting effects. This is a professional result. Now let’s look at alternative options for coloring the photo.

Colorize the photo through adjustments layers

Here’s another way to colorize your photo. Let’s use the color adjustment adjustiments. I already imagine how you are opening the familiar Image Adjustiments, highlighting the area and indulging in the effects. No, we certainly won’t do that. We will get the same baby feces. Of course, select an area, apply color correction, select a new area, apply color correction again is an option. Only this option is dull, without any possibility. Twist and change the results.

Therefore we will use Layer New Adjustiment Layer. A color correction layer is the same color correction, only it is applied not to a layer with graphics, but is itself a layer. Imagine the photo is our layer. And on top we put red glass, which changed the color of the photo. The red glass is the color correction layer. You can remove it, make it invisible, apply layers, mask and more.

Which of the color corrections are suitable for coloring? In my opinion, the Photo Filter color correction works best. Select Layer New Adjustiment Layer Photo Filter Or create a color adjustment layer from the Layers palette menu.

Now I want you to do everything that I described for coloring photos through fill layers. Create a mask, fill it with black and a regular brush. Apply a filter to the area you need. Here’s what you should get:

In this case, at any time you can reconfigure the filter color, change the color and correct the mask. Just click on the color correction layer and adjust the color in the Adjustiments palette. If you do not know where this palette is located, call it through Windows Ajustments. You will see for yourself that because of color correction it is as easy to make a photo in color as through fill layers, but I personally like the latter.

Hopefully there is a need to demonstrate Step by Step Painting. You already understood that you need to color all areas of the photo in a similar way. I will give the final version of the photo coloring and wish you successful experiments in Photoshop. Now you know how to make a photo in color.

Setting up a printer color profile

How often have you asked such questions: “Why does a computer monitor show us some colors in images, after printing on a printer, we get others, and as soon as paper of another manufacturer is loaded, the result is completely NOT similar to the first two options”.

But the point here, it turns out, is that the computer screen creates shades using three specific primary colors called RGB (Red, Green, Blue), and printing on the printer takes place in a slightly different system. CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, BlacK).

At the same time, advice of fairness, it should be noted that if photo printing is not your hobby or profession, then the issue of color rendering for you, most likely, will not be particularly critical at all, because most owners of color printers have absolutely NO suspicion of what it is. color profile, and do well without it.

In the figure below, you can estimate the difference between the original image and images printed using various consumables.

Nevertheless, we suggest that you take a closer look at what needs to be done to make the colors and shades printed on paper as close as possible to the theme that your camera has saved.

First, it is necessary to clearly understand that each color profile is able to function normally only in a rigid bond. printer model certain ink certain paper.

If at least something in this bundle is changed, the profile will be Not only useless, but even harmful.

For example, if you use the Profile Corresponding to this set when working with the Epson XP-605 printer, glossy WWM paper with 225 g / m² and WWM E26 ink, then everything will be excellent when printing. But if you insert glossy Epson paper into the printer and DO NOT change the Corresponding settings, then the color rendition of the image will certainly deteriorate significantly.

Where does the color profile come from?

The color profile itself is just a printer driver file, usually with the icc extension, and containing information on how to correct the color rendition of the image when printing it.

Serious ink manufacturers, as a rule, publish on their resource all color profiles for their products, as well as for paper from various manufacturers. At the same time, some of them may offer you to build an individual color profile completely free of charge, and if necessary,
even to certain types of paper.

To get it, you just need to print special images on paper (as they say, dies), indicate the type of ink used, paper, as well as the model of the printer itself. Further, by sending all these samples to the ink manufacturer,
You, very soon, will receive a file with a ready-made color profile from them by mail.

Installing and configuring a profile

Having received the finished file, copy it to your computer at:

It should be noted that color management is NOT supported by all programs, but only by some, such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, ACDSee or others.
