Copy and Scan to HP Ink Tank Wireless 415 Printer

Scanner

We scanned the cover of the August issue of CHIP and saved it as jpeg. The whole process took 12 seconds. After scanning, the MFP program offers to change the brightness / contrast of the image, but we did not do this in order to check how the scanner copes “on its own”.

Even at 200 ppi, the picture looks great. the colors are as in the original, the lines are clear, and the details are not blurry. A little noise is noticeable in dark and monochromatic areas, but it disappears when the number of pixels per inch is increased to 600 However, the higher the resolution, the longer the scanning process: at 600 ppi it took about 25 seconds. Scanning text is, of course, faster, and it comes out clearly already at 200 ppi. So a black and white A4 page turned into a picture in just 10 seconds.

Design

The days when MFPs were like a closet are long gone, and all HP models are very compact. with dimensions of 55x30x15 cm Ink Tank 415 fits on any table and does NOT take up much space. The main body material is matte plastic, but there are small glossy inserts around the top cover. The printer buttons are mechanical (although they look like touch-sensitive ones), and the LCD displays only the most necessary. the device status and the number of pages in the queue.

The paper and print trays can be tucked away in the case and only the ink block will pop out from the side. It is quite SIMple to fill it, the main thing is not to confuse the colors of the baths. We managed to refuel the printer, did not spill a drop. the jars DO NOT leak even in the inverted position.

In addition to ink, the Ink Tank 415 comes with print heads, a power cable, a USB A-B cable for connecting to a computer, and a standard documentation package with a disk. The printer has a 1-hour warranty, but if you register your product on HP, you can extend it to 2 years or 20,000 pages.

Review of the HP ink Tank 415 MFP: prints almost free

The economical HP Ink Tank 415 printer-scanner-copier is suitable for schoolchildren, students, small offices and all those who print a lot. We tested the model in practice and calculated all printing costs.

Printing

All measurements were carried out on high-precision equipment. a smartphone timer.

Design is important, of course, but what’s inside matters. Especially when it comes to a printer. Therefore, the first thing we did was open the lid of the device and made a couple of b / w photocopies. one A4 page took seven seconds. For a copy of the passport. five.

When printing a large document, the printer managed to print 13 pages in one minute. It is important to note here that we printed A4, completely filled with text. Graphs, tables, or half-blank pages will print faster. Conversely, if you’re printing white text on a black background, be patient (and stop transferring ink). The quality of the prints can be adjusted. the higher, the longer the printing process will take.

The most interesting thing is to print photos, especially if you are used to seeing photos only on the smartphone screen. It took a minute and 45 seconds to print a 10×15 photo. much faster than going to a photo studio. And cheaper. The colors are slightly lighter than in the original photo, but this problem can be solved in the photo editor by “adjusting” the brightness of the image before printing. In general, the quality of the photo is decent, taking a minimum of financial and energy costs for printing it.

By the way, it is very important to choose the right type of paper. the quality of the print will depend on it. We had matte paper from a noname manufacturer, and we tried to trick the device by changing its type when printing was started. The photo on the left was taken “on HP photo paper”, on the right. “on another”. The result is noticeable with the naked eye. the photo on the left is brighter, but not as clear as on real paper.

The conclusion of the experiment: the printer will print on any cards, but for photos it is best to use HP branded photo paper.

Wireless printing from a smartphone

The HP Ink Tank 415 has Wi-Fi, which means it can be used wirelessly with any device on your network. Android needs the free HP Smart app and the HP Print Service Plugin on iPhone wireless printing is available even without a separate app.

HP Smart interface is extremely SIMple: just select a document, photo from gallery or social network and send it to print in a couple of clicks. The settings are the same as on the computer: paper selection, print quality, number of copies. You can also crop the image to the desired size or change its orientation.

By the way, the HP Ink Tank 415 and 419 models support printing Not only via Wi-Fi, but also at a great distance from the device. The ePrint service allows you to print files sent to an email address. you will receive this when you first set up your printer.

CISS and savings

In the spring we talked about the new MFPs of the HP Ink Tank series, which use a continuous ink supply system (CISS). instead of cartridges, they have ink tanks, which can be refilled as needed. One of the models came to our test. a wireless MFP Ink Tank 415.

The ink is included with the device: two cans of black (170 ml each) and three of color. Ink Tank will be able to print up to 15,000 black and white pages or up to 8,000 color pages at one filling station. The numbers are impressive, and even if you use the MFP to its fullest, THESE consumables will definitely last for a year or two.

Should you buy the HP Ink Tank 415?

Before answering this question, ask yourself. how much do you print? The recommended load for Ink Tank models is up to 800 A4 pages per month. Tested MFPs from HP are suitable for those who truly depend on the printer for large families with school children, teachers, students and entrepreneurs.

If you type a lot, Ink Tank will help you save money. Recalculating the cost of a print in rubles, the price of a black-and-white page will be about 10 kopecks, a color page. 22. This is much cheaper than the services of a photo studio or printing on a conventional inkjet printer with cartridges. HP Ink Tank 415 will pay for itself in a year of active use, and at the same time you do not need ink together. there are so many of them included.

If you use the printer a couple of times a month, the MFP will NOT be able to justify its cost for a long time. However, there is a good chance that with Ink Tank you will want to print everything around. especially Photos that can be sent to print directly from your smartphone.

Windows cleaning tool

When creating the software component of any printer, special service tools are almost always developed for it. They allow the owner of the equipment to carry out certain procedures without problems, for example, checking the nozzles or the cartridge. The service also includes a head cleaning function. Below we will tell you how to launch it, but first you need to connect the device to the PC, turn it on and make sure it works correctly.

Next, you need to do the following:

From the Start menu go to Control Panel.

Find your equipment in the list, right-click on it and select “Printing Preferences”.

If for some reason the device is NOT displayed in the list, we advise you to refer to the article at the following link. In it you will find detailed instructions on how to fix the problem.

Read the warning and instructions in the displayed window, then click on “Run”.

Wait for the cleaning to complete. During it, do not launch any other actions. this recommendation will appear in the warning that opens.

The menu type may look different depending on the printer and MFP model. The most common variant is when the tab has the name “Service”, and it contains the tool “Cleaning printheads”. If you find one, feel free to run.

Differences also apply to instructions and warnings. Be sure to read the text that should be displayed in the window that opens before starting the cleaning.

This completes the cleaning process. Now you can run a test print to make sure you achieve the desired result. This is done like this:

READ  How To Connect An HP Printer Via Wi-Fi

In the “Devices and Printers” menu, right-click on your printer and select “Printer Properties”.

In the “General” tab, find the “Test Print” button.

  • Wait for the test sheet to print and check for defects. If found, repeat the cleaning procedure.
  • Above, we talked about built-in maintenance tools. If you are interested in this topic and you wish to further adjust the parameters of your device, read the article at the link below. There is a detailed guide to properly calibrating the printer.

    Cleaning the HP printer head

The print head is the most important component of any inkjet device. It consists of many nozzles, cameras and various boards that spray ink over the paper. Of course, such a complex mechanism can sometimes malfunction, and most often this is due to clogging of areas. Fortunately, head cleaning is easy. Any user can make it on their own.

    Cleaning the HP Printer Head

If you start to notice a deterioration in print quality, streaks appear on the finished sheets, some elements are NOT visible or a certain color is missing, it is recommended to carry out the printhead cleaning procedure. Next, we will take a closer look at how to accomplish this owner of HP printers.

    MFP OSD

For owners of multifunctional devices that are equipped with a control screen, there is an additional instruction, and not requiring connection of the equipment with a PC. All actions are performed through built-in service functions.

Move through the list by clicking on the left or right arrow.

Find and tap on the “Settings” menu.

    Open the “Service” window.

    Select the “Head Cleaning” procedure.

Start the process by clicking on the indicated button.

When finished, you will be prompted to perform a test print. Confirm this action, check the letter and repeat the purge if necessary.

In the case when all the colors on the finished paper are displayed correctly, there are no streaks, but horizontal stripes appear, the reason may not lie in the contamination of the head. There are several other factors that influence this. Read more about them in our other material.

So we figured out how to independently clean the print head of the printer and multifunction device at home. As you can see, even an inexperienced user can cope with this task. However, if even repeated cleaning does not bring any positive result, we advise you to contact the service center for help.
