HP laserjet 1010 printer print setup

Understanding Print Quality Settings

The print quality setting allows you to adjust the intensity and brightness of the print, and to define the print settings for graphics. In addition, print quality settings allow you to optimize print quality for specific media.

You can change the printer property settings to suit different types of print jobs. The following quality parameters are available:

600 dpi This parameter is used by default.

FastRes 1200. This setting is available for the 1012 and 1015 models. It provides better print quality for jobs, but at a lower speed.

EconoMode (save toner). Printing of text with reduced toner consumption in a cartridge (purchase, buyout, acceptance of cartridges is more expensive, return cartridges, are expensive, return more expensive, buy 35% more expensive). This mode is useful when printing draft documents. This setting is enabled regardless of other print quality settings.

1 Open the printer settings (or printing settings in Windows 2000 and XP).

2 On the Paper / Quality or Finished tab. processing (Paper Type / Quality tab for some May drivers) select the desired print quality setting.

Not all printer features are available with all drivers or operating systems. See the on-screen help for the Printer Properties (Driver) for the available features for a specific driver.

To change the print quality setting for all subsequent jobs, access Properties from the Windows Start button menu on the taskbar. To change the print quality settings for printing only from an open application, open the Printer Setup menu.

Printing Multiple Pages on One Sheet (Printing Pages Per Sheet)

In this mode, the user can select the number of pages to print on one sheet of paper. When printing multiple pages on one sheet, the pages are printed at a reduced scale and in the normal print sequence.

Canceling a print job

Press and release the Cancel Job button on the printer control panel to cancel a print job.

If the computer has not stopped sending a print job to the printer, the job mode light on the printer control panel continues to blink. In this case, delete the job from the print queue or wait until the end of the data transfer to the printer. The printer then returns to ready mode.

Just lovely. HP LaserJet 1010 Printer

Hello dear readers! A little story: there was, then I lived. And I had a small need for the output of texts and graphics on paper: then print a diagram, then an article, then a picture. Due to the lack of my own printer, I went, that means, to everyone I knew, and tearfully asked to print a page or two. But gradually the demand for printing began to increase. And then the day came when my own conscience categorically forbade me to rape my friends printers and their consumables. And I decided, therefore, to get myself a printer. I decided to decide, but which one to take? Inkjet or laser? On the one hand: I wanted to print all sorts of pictures in color, but on the other: I knew firsthand how quickly the ink in the inkjets runs out, the cost of refilling or replacing them. And I have heard all sorts of stories about their drying out with irregular use. And I wanted to print more, but cheaper. With laser, it is also not easy: for home use they have a rather high price, and the main disadvantage is black and white printing. In general, after thinking for a couple of days, I opted for a laser one. He shook all his hard-earned money out of the bank, reviewed a bunch of prices, and went shopping. So, without any special adventures, a printer was bought. HP Laser Jet 1010. Upon arrival home, feeling, sniffing, and inspection of a freshly acquired device began, from a hitherto unknown type of peripheral. a printer.

Contents of delivery
The following was found in the box: the printer itself, its cartridge (packed in a light-proof material, read. polyethylene), a power cord, two small pieces of paper (upon closer examination, one turned out to be a manual for assembling the printer, I could not determine the purpose of the other), CD with software Scanty, I must say! And where are the manuals the size of a sheet?

I liked it immediately! Good-looking: the front is dark gray, the sides are silvery, all the corners are rounded. Especially good at opening and pulling out all of its trays and stands. There are 2 hinged trays: 1 receiving and 1 feeding. There is a priority feed tray above the input tray, i.e. for 2-sided printing, for example, you do not need to feed the printed side into the jammed main feed tray. The priority and input trays are equipped with side paper guides.

Control Panel
The printer control panel consists of 3 indicator lights and 2 buttons on the front panel. Purpose of controls:

Attention indicator. Indicates that the printer input tray is empty, cartridge access door open, cartridge missing, or other errors.

Ready indicator. Indicates that the printer is ready to print.

Continue button and indicator. Press and release the Continue button to print a demo page or continue with manual feed mode. To print the configuration page, press the “Continue” button for 5 seconds.

Cancel Job button. While the printer is processing data, press the Job Cancel button to cancel the print job.

Assembly, connection, setup
And now all the parts of the printer are out of the box, unpacked and spread out on the floor. Let’s start assembling. Since this is my first laser printer, the question arises: how to insert the cartridge into it correctly? I take those small scraps of paper that came with him in the kit. the process of installing the cartridge seems to be drawn, but it is too short. Not good. I insert the CD, hoping to find something like a user manual. Expectations did not disappoint: the CD contains a rather detailed manual in Russian, which does not describe everything. from unpacking and storage to troubleshooting. Great guide! So, we install the cartridge. As it turned out, there is nothing complicated about it. I opened the lid, put the cartridge there and closed it. It seemed to me that the cartridge just fell there! I take it out, put it on again. I fell again! Wow, damn it, maybe this is how it should be? OK let’s see. Next, we connect it to the computer. The mains cable is connected, only the USB cable remains, the cable, the cable And where is the cord. I’ll go in the box and take a look He’s not there! Comrade printer, how, in fact, are you going to interact with the system unit? Where is your cord? Is silent. Okay, no big deal, I’ll put mine. Well, everything seems to be assembled and connected. Begin. I plug the power cord into the outlet. the printer does not show signs of life. I climb to its back wall. it is, there is a toggle switch for power supply! After pressing the last, the printer came to life. it blinked with light bulbs and turned it around with its digestive system. He blinked, buzzed and fell silent, shining with a green light, they say, ready. I press the button “Continue” and the test page comes out! It reads perfectly, so I installed the cartridge correctly! But with the installation of the driver, a problem came out: the installation of the driver reached the moment the printer was detected, and errors began to take off first in the installation program, and then in all the others. No, it won’t work that way. As a result, after reading the user’s manual and dancing a little with a tambourine, the printer with the operating system (ME) managed to make friends. The system swallowed the wood and asked to reboot. After the reboot, 3 sections appeared in the system properties with the names Dot4 HPZ12, Dot4Print HPZ12, Dot4Usb HPZ12. Inside which was my LaserJet 1010. Now about the properties of the driver: actually, there are not very many properties. you can change the media type, turn on the toner saving mode, select the paper feed method, vary the print quality, set up the function of printing personalized watermarks.

The first page with the text came out 10 seconds after sending the file to print. 2-point text reads great. Quite clear and even filling of the page in all resolutions. In 1 minute, this letter-slap manages to produce “on-the-go” from 9 to 11 pages of text, depending on the amount of text on the page. When printing text in toner save mode, the difference is almost imperceptible to the eye. Now let’s see how the printer handles graphics. And with graphics, things are as follows: the first A4 page with heavy graphics jumped out of the printer in 19 seconds. Of course, when printing graphics, the difference in economy mode is quite noticeable, but acceptable. When printing vector graphics, all lines and geometric shapes look very good, there is nothing to complain about. During printing, abundant ozone emission was not noticed. as I did not smell, I did not feel anything. No extra grasping reflexes were noticed. both when using ordinary paper (80 g / m2) and when printing on thin writing paper, the printer dragged the sheets very carefully, one at a time. The printed envelope came out almost uncrumpled. Unmistakably detects the presence of paper in the priority feed tray. I did not succeed in making the printer jam the paper, even though I crumpled it and tucked the corners. By the way, the printer is quite economical in relation to paper. the minimum size of the edges on the top and left is 5 mm. During printing, the noise produced by the printer is quite noticeable, but quite acceptable. He didn’t even drown my system unit with 3 case fans In standby mode, you can forget about the existence of the printer. it is silent, sometimes clicking its guts.

READ  Why the HP 415 printer does not print

Actually, I don’t know what to say. People, I got a great printer! Small, quiet, good looking, and with traditional Hewlett-Packard print quality! And black and white printing has its charms! And paired with a scanner, it turns out a good semblance of a copier.

Distortions, errors or omissions in the text

Loose connection or defective USB or parallel cable. Try the following:

Try to print a document that previously printed without errors.

If possible, connect the USB or parallel printer cable to another computer and try to print a document that has previously printed without errors.

Installing HP LaserJet 1010 printer driver on Windows 10

Disconnect the power cord, disconnect both ends of the USB or parallel cable, reconnect both ends of the USB or parallel cable, and then reconnect the power cord.

Always unplug the printer from the electrical outlet before connecting cables to the printer. Otherwise, it may damage the printer.

The error may be caused by the wrong printer driver selected during the software installation. Make sure the correct driver is selected in the printer properties.

The error may be caused by the application being used. Try to print from another program.

Missing graphics or text, or blank pages

Make sure the file does not contain blank pages.

The graphics settings in the printer properties might not be appropriate for the job you are printing. Try changing the graphics settings in the printer driver.

Mechanism cleaning / testing mode

Printing a cleaning sheet or machine test page.

Wait until the cleaning sheet has finished printing and the printer is in Ready mode. It will take about 2 minutes.

Wait for the engine test page to finish printing and the printer is in Ready mode.

Memory full The printer memory is full.

The printed image is too complex to print with the available printer memory. Try decreasing the resolution.

Cover open, media out, paper jam.

Printer error requiring user or technician intervention.

Fatal error All lights on.

Unplug the printer for 30 minutes and then plug it back on. If the printer error persists, contact Support.

Disconnect both ends of the power cord and then reconnect.

Unprinted areas

Defects in individual sheets may be the cause.

Try to print the job again.

Uneven moisture or damp spots on the surface of the print media. Try printing your document on a different print media.

Defective paper batch. Certain manufacturing techniques may interfere with toner from adhering to certain areas of the sheet. Try a different type or brand of print media.

Media Feed Errors

Please select the closest description of the problem:

The printer feeds multiple sheets at a time

Paper from the input tray does not feed into the printer.

Twisting and deformation of sheets during broaching

Print job is very slow. Errors while feeding the print media.

Page size is different from another printer

If you used an older version of the printer driver (printer software) to create the document, or if you set different printer property settings in the software, the page format may change when you try to print with the new printer driver or new settings. To resolve errors, change the resolution, media size, font settings, and other settings.

The graphics settings may not be suitable for the print job. Check and, if necessary, change the graphics transfer settings (for example, resolution) in the driver.
