Why the Canon printer does not print even though there is ink

Today we will try to answer one of the most common questions: why the printer does not print and what needs to be done in such cases. There can always be a lot of possible reasons here, there are some that are related to technical problems with the printer, and also those that we ourselves can very easily eliminate, and there are also reasons related to Windows or another operating system.

In the article we will consider several of the most possible variants of this problem and then we will also analyze in detail the methods of arranging each of these problems. Despite the fact that the principle of operation of all Canon printers is almost the same, there are several models in which an individual approach will be necessary, although in fact there are too few such printers. Therefore, we can confidently say that our instruction will be able to find the causes of errors in all Canon printers, when there is ink in the printer, but the printer itself does not print.

printer, does, print

The very first reason, despite the fact that it may seem very funny, may be due to incorrect contacts, network failures or other similar nuances. Based on this, first make sure that everything we have just talked about, you have complete order. Also, make sure there is paper in the printer. You should also remove some of the papers, or add a little more if there are not enough of them, since sometimes the printer does not print due to the fact that there are too many or too few papers.

Try to push them a little deeper into the printer’s inlet. If it does not help, then move the sheets either all the way to the right or to the left. Is the tray still unwilling to accept A4 and the Canon printer won’t print? Turn off your device, restart your computer, then reconnect everything. Still to no avail? So the situation is really serious. Let’s figure it out! Checking Windows Settings First, let’s check if this device is disabled in the computer itself. We go to “Start.” Devices and Printers. In the window that appears, look for your printer model and pay attention to the printer icon, if it is discolored, so to speak, then you need to check the contacts. Because this indicates that drivers are installed on the computer, but the computer does not see this device.

You should also make sure that the printer on which you are going to print the document is the default device. This is done as follows: go to the same “Devices and Printers in the Start menu, at the bottom left of the icon there should be a green check mark. If there is no checkmark, then right-click on the desired printer and select “Use as default.
If none of the above did not affect the solution of the problem, why the printer does not print from a computer or laptop, then we will try to restart the print manager. Disconnect all connecting wires from the printer before starting the procedure. Now go to “Start.” Control Panel. “System and Security.” Administrative Tools. Double-click on “Services. Find in the list “Print Manager and go to properties with the right mouse button.

On the General tab, opposite the Startup type item, the value should be set to Automatic. If this is not the case, correct it. Also, in the “State, the“ Stop ”button should be active, if this is not the case, then click on the“ Run ”button and save the changes by clicking on“ OK. Now right-click again on the service name “Print Manager and find the inscription” Start. Click it. There is no such inscription? Means everything is in order and you did everything right.

Are the printer drivers installed? So, your Canon printer still won’t print, what to do you don’t know? If you still do not have the drivers installed on the printer, urgently install them from the disc supplied in the kit. Above you saw that in my case everything is fine with the drivers, but if you do not see the printer at all, then most likely the problem is in the drivers.

No disc? We go to the official website of the manufacturer of your printer and download the drivers directly from there. By the way, even if you had everything installed, you still do not mind taking a look there, as the software is becoming obsolete at an incredible speed.
Sometimes there are problems even with the installed drivers! If you installed the drivers, but the printer still does not print, then you need to uninstall the driver from the printer and reinstall it. This problem is very common, so you shouldn’t ignore it.
As an option, I can also suggest cleaning the print queue. To do this, go to the already familiar “Devices and printers located in the” Start. Then we right-click on our printer, select “View the print queue. We delete absolutely everything that is in the window that appears, if it is empty, just close it, the problem is clearly not this.
If the queue is not deleted, then you need to restart the computer. After that, go to this window again and try to delete the queue. It is possible that these manipulations will lead nowhere. Then disconnect all wires from the computer that relate to the printer and try cleaning.

Wrong connection

The most common reason an Epson printer refuses to print is because there is no power supply. If you simply forgot to plug the device into the network, it is enough to restore the connection.

  • Check the contact with the socket. If it is broken, restore it. If there is no power supply, check the outlet and cable integrity.
  • Reboot PC and Printer.
  • Check USB cable. Replace it with a new one if necessary.

If everything is done correctly, the device will successfully complete the specified print operation.

Errors due to drivers

Special utilities are used to connect between the PC operating system and the printer. They are called drivers. If this item fails, the Epson will not print. Most often, errors are thrown after the OS has been reinstalled or updated. In addition, a possible cause may be a software failure or the connection of new, previously unused equipment.

The printer may respond to driver errors in different ways. Most often, the operation requested by the user is canceled, or the sheet leaves the flaps without signs of printing on it.

To clarify what exactly became the source of the malfunction, call the hardware manager in the PC control panel will help. If exclamation marks appear among the designations, you need to additionally find and install the correct drivers.

If no errors are detected in the manager, and printing is still difficult, it is recommended to reinstall the utility. To remove it, the system’s own capabilities are sufficient. Then you need to download the necessary drivers on the official website of the manufacturer and install them.

Main reasons

There are quite a few situations in which an Epson printer does not print. In most cases, they are associated with a violation of the rules for the operation of equipment, with the use of low-quality consumables.

Most faults can be easily eliminated within 10 minutes with the right approach to business.

If a color printer prints black after replacing a cartridge, or the device completely stops working when there is ink in the dispenser compartment, it is worth considering in detail all the most common causes of such problems.

  • Incorrect connection.
  • The wrong device is connected from which the document was sent.
  • Freeze due to a temporary malfunction of the equipment itself. In this case, the print queue will be violated.
  • Lack of paper.
  • Paper jams in the feeder.
  • Driver errors.
  • Empty cartridge or poor filling.

These are the main faults available for self-repair. Technical problems associated with serious breakdowns are resolved in service centers. It stands to Honor that self-opening of the case in violation of the factory seals will lead to the loss of the warranty for office equipment.

Cartridge is empty or does not supply ink

The first thing that is customary to check when the printer issues blank sheets or a complete failure of the equipment to work is the completeness of the cartridge refueling. Indeed, checking the toner level is worth doing. In normal mode, it is performed from the “Hardware Properties” section of the settings. But if you use a remanufactured or refilled cartridge, the data will not be reliable, you will have to perform a manual check.

What to do?

If the source of the problems is identified, you can proceed to fix them. To do this, you will have to perform a number of consecutive actions. For each breakdown, they will be different.

Wrong printer

With Windows, you can connect multiple printers at the same time. over, not all of them have a physical embodiment. If this error occurs when choosing a device, it will take a long time to wait for the document to print. To avoid these problems, you can simply set your Epson printer to be the default printing device. This is done from the settings panel through the context menu. With the constant use of several printers, you will still have to carefully monitor the user’s actions. the constant status of the main device will only interfere.

Out of paper

Typically, the printer will report a shortage or jam by using indicator signals or by displaying a warning on the screen. If this does not happen, a visual inspection of the printer should be performed. A jammed sheet is most often visible and can be visually detected. If detected, you need to carefully remove the paper, avoiding jerks.

If there is an error signal, but the problem is not visually detected, remove the cartridge. With improved visibility, problems can be resolved much faster and easier. When the paper tray is empty, just fill it and then start printing.

Printhead malfunctions

It is impossible to establish a head breakage yourself, and even more so to repair a part without sufficient skills. You need to contact the service center. Visually, it is difficult to determine such a breakdown, but sometimes burnouts and the passage of ink can be seen on the SG, which are a sign of a malfunction of the electrical components of the printer.

Checking CISS

Sometimes the continuous ink system will cause black or color not to print. The following problems are possible:

  • not transferred to the working position from the transport;
  • tanks have low ink levels;
  • the feed loop is transmitted;
  • out of ink;
  • an airlock in the ink plume;
  • dried ink due to prolonged inactivity of the printing device.
  • CISS is transferred to the working position;
  • the ink containers are placed in the correct position;
  • air is pumped in the loop, squeezing / kinking of the hoses is eliminated;
  • the head is cleaned by the program method;
  • the page prints and the print quality is checked.

Does not print after refueling

Sensors are often installed on machinery to count the printed pages. When the digit reaches a critical mark, printing is automatically blocked by the system, assuming that the ink is low on ink. But the sensor does not always work correctly. In accordance with the aLGorithm embedded in the sensor, each page is considered to be completely filled with text or an image. In practice, however, printing is always uneven.

To resume printing, just reset the counter. Zeroing is possible in several ways and the technology differs depending on the manufacturer and the specific model.

  • Using software like “IpTool”, “Mtool”.
  • Sticking the contacts on the cartridge itself. The method is mainly for the HP technique. First, the upper left contact is glued, then the cartridge is inserted into the device and a test page is printed, then the lower right contact is glued in the same way. it is tested. Next, the tape is sequentially removed, and the contacts are wiped with alcohol.
  • Buying a new compatible cartridge without a counter.

Optionally, you can turn off low dye messages on the screen. For Canon printers, follow the aLGorithm below.

  • Go to the already familiar “Devices and Printers” window.
  • Call the context menu by right-clicking your printer.
  • Goes into settings.
  • In the “Service” tab, click on “Status Information”.
  • In a new window, click on the “Parameters” section and select from the offered list “Display warning automatically”.
  • If there is a check mark next to “When Low Ink Warning Appears”, uncheck.

Incorrect cartridge refilling

  • Poor quality paint. Poor ink can be refilled in both black and color cartridges. Paints can only be purchased from an official manufacturer or a reliable supplier.
  • Unsuitable colorant. If the product refuses to print, but there is ink, check to see if it matches your printer model. The dye marking is on the packaging, and the recommendations for choosing ink are in the instructions for the technique. When choosing ink for inkjet printers, you need to take into account that they are pigmented and water-based.

The reason is in the paper

The paper may not be properly seated in the tray, or the paper may have chewed inside the printer. Such problems need to be eliminated. Also check if the paper is suitable for your printer model. The optimum paper weight for the printer is 80 gsm.

Damaged or previously used sheets must not be used.

Make sure you loaded the paper upside down in the tray. Photo paper and envelopes have a printable side and a non-printable back.

Clogged, dry ink cartridges or printhead

With intensive and frequent printing without preventive maintenance, the channels of the ink passage in the middle of the cartridge or print head become clogged with paint, and dust or foreign inclusions from a low-quality consumable can also get into them. If the printer rarely prints, then the ink may dry on different surfaces of the device. Sometimes, for any reason, the printer does not print not only with black ink, but also with color.

Cleaning can be physical or software. In the first case, the intervention of the user is necessary, who will rinse the equipment and remove the remaining ink. The second uses utilities or the standard software of the manufacturer, where there is a head cleaning function.

The approach channel is cleaned as follows:

Go to the printer settings and in the “Estimated ink levels” section check the amount of dyes in the containers.

Cleaning the cartridges must be done one at a time.

When removed from the printer, the ink tank should not be outside its permanent location for more than 30 minutes.

Non-genuine or incompatible cartridges / inks

If the original cartridge that was sold with the printer is worn out or broken, and you bought another, and after that the text does not print, although there is ink, it is most likely that the consumable is of poor quality or does not fit your model. A similar situation may occur if ink was purchased incompatible with the cartridge model. Before buying non-original consumables, you need to check their compatibility with printing equipment.

6 reasons the printer stops printing

Problems with printing pages can be caused by various reasons:

  • Dried or improperly distributed paint.
  • Software crash.
  • Lack of drivers for the newly installed printer.
  • Problems with the USB cable connection.
  • Incorrectly set settings on the computer.
  • Technical malfunction of the device itself.

In any case, do not immediately run to the nearest service center. If the problem can be solved in a couple of minutes, it is not yet a fact that you will be charged an acceptable amount for solving it. And if you urgently need to print important information, somehow it’s not at all before the search for specialists.

When things go wrong, you need to try to contain your anger and aggression. It is enough to think about why the printer does not print, although there is ink and how it can be fixed. If the owner regularly monitors his equipment, malfunctions occur much less often and are eliminated faster.

Fixing cartridge problems

If you use a non-original cartridge that you filled yourself or from some craftsman, problems may arise even with sufficient ink levels. Of course, the easiest way out is to take a new cartridge each time or take it to a service center for refueling. But if this option is not affordable, you can solve problems as soon as they arise.

IN laser printer ink may not be properly distributed in the compartments, so just pull the cartridge out of the printer and shake it well. Repeat several times, until the performance is fully restored.

If a inkjet printer, the problem often occurs in the drying of the ink itself. A little water or alcohol will help here, soak a cotton pad or swab with them and wipe the contacts.

But before you start “shamanizing” you should make sure that the cartridge itself is installed in the compartment correctly. Check if it protrudes from it, if the contacts come off. Try to remember what the equipment looked like before, what has changed in all this.

A collection of answers to your questions

Most of all, it pisses me off when everything seems to be in order, but at the same time nothing works. It is not clear why the printer does not print, although there is ink, and all the settings seem to be set? But the devil is always in the details, a couple of missed checkmarks and that’s it, the printing device refuses to work.

How to check ink in a printer

Technically speaking, checking your ink supply is nearly impossible. You will have to use the software and available equipment:

  • In the tray (bottom right corner) you will find your printer icon.
  • It should be double-clicked with the left mouse button.
  • If there is no icon, open “Start“And go to”Control Panel“. After 10-15 seconds of searching, you will find another icon “Devices and Printers“.
  • In the newly opened window, you can easily find your printer, which you also need to double-click on.
  • Depending on the manufacturer’s firm, you will need to go either to “Settings“, either in “Properties“.
  • Further “Functions” or “Service“. After going to “Printer services», You can find information about the amount of ink in the cartridge.

Special programs for these functions are not developed, because the printer will always give a signal to reduce the amount of ink. But check your utilities, perhaps some of them give information about the status of the cartridges of your printing device.

How to set up your printer correctly?

And if the printer is connected correctly and the tenth reboot hasn’t helped? Then you have to go into the settings:

  • Going to “Control Panel“Should go to the category”Hardware and Sound“.
  • This is where we are expected “Devices and Printers“, The settings of which we will change.
  • The printer icon is familiar to everyone, just double-click on it with the left mouse button.
  • After that, a small window will open in front of you, in which you should select “a printer“.
  • In the context menu that appears, you need to figure out where we will put the checkmarks, and where it is better to remove them.
  • Use as default“. the function is useful, it is better to put it on. If two or more printers are connected to the computer at the same time, this will start printing by default.
  • Work autonomously“. not a useful function at all, but “Pause printing”And even worse. It is because of the presence of a jackdaw at this point that the printer may not work.
  • There is also one very useful function in the same menu. You can use the item “Clear queue»And all the documents put on the printout will disappear from memory. It is extremely convenient if by mistake you have started printing several hundred or even thousands of unnecessary pages.

Why did the printer stop printing?

All problems with printers can be roughly divided into four groups:

  • Problems connecting the machine to the computer.
  • Errors in settings and not installed drivers.
  • Empty ink cartridge.
  • Incorrectly filled or installed cartridge.

Searching for the problem every time again is not the most pleasant experience, and it will take a lot of time. Therefore, it is easier to remember a simple aLGorithm of actions.

The first step is to check if the printer is turned on at all?

  • Pay attention to the lit indicators on the device panel.
  • Check if the machine is plugged in.
  • Make sure the USB cable is plugged in and functioning properly.

Sometimes a simple restart of the computer and printer is enough to restore the printer to work., this solves 90% of all problems encountered.

When restarting, some of the settings are reset, and some temporary files that could slow down the system are deleted. So it’s enough to press two buttons and wait literally a minute.

The printer does not print, although there is ink in the cartridges / the printer sees the cartridges, but gives a blank sheet. what to do (cartridges with filler)

For a number of Canon, Epson and HP printers on cartridges of construction with fillers (see photo below), there is an actual problem: the cartridges (possibly PZK or CISS ink tanks) are still full of ink, but the printer does not print some colors or gives out blank sheets. In this case, the cartridges are detected (no error messages appear and printing is not blocked), but even repeated deep cleaning does not help.

Printer does not see cartridges

These tips are relevant for cases when the printer sees (detects) cartridges, but does not print as expected. If the printer gives an error message (does not see the cartridge), you should look for a solution in the following articles:

Eliminating the problem

The best option is to check everything at once.

  • Check that the air hole is open and allows air to pass through (in operating mode, the filling hole must be closed on the slam-shut valve and the air hole must be open).
  • Make sure that the ink has not yet expired (after opening the package, it is not recommended to use ink for more than six months).
General rules for the storage and use of ink
  • Flush cartridges.
How to flush refillable refillable cartridges
  • Flush printhead.
Flushing the print head with drip
  • Remove, rinse, carefully inspect and put back the seals.
Why do you need silicone seals

Completely, all described actions, time will take about an hour and a half. This is roughly comparable to the planned tech. service. If the cartridges and ink can simply be replaced immediately, then the print head in such a situation definitely needs to be rinsed.

Possible reasons

If ink is present in the cartridges, but the printer does not print, this may be due to 3 reasons:

  • Air hole on the cartridge is blocked.
  • Ink does not pass through the PG channels (blockage or airlock).
  • Ink from the cartridge does not flow into the SG (filler is clogged or the air hole is closed).
  • Air leaks at the junction of the nozzles of the cartridge and the steam generator (the seals may have shifted or bruised).

Solved: Reports that the printer is printing but nothing happens. HP Support Community

I saw your post that your Officejet 5610 is not currently printing a test page to or from your Windows 7 system and I wanted to answer to help you.

I would first recommend doing a power reset and making sure the printer is connected directly When done, try making a copy from the front of the printer to check the hardware. If the copies work, go to the following link.

With the printer on, unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the outlet.
Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the outlet.
Connect the power cord to the back of the device.
If the printer does not turn on by itself, press the power button to turn it on.

Try each of the following steps, completely and in order: Print jobs jammed in the print queue (Windows)

What to do if the HP Deskjet 2130 does not print when ink is present

For various reasons, the printer may refuse to print. The problem is relevant for devices of any brands. All reasons can be divided into two categories: software and hardware. The first category includes various systemic problems, for example, changing settings in the operating system, failed drivers, and the like. Even a specific program may not print. For example, often the printer won’t print PDF files or Word documents.

Sometimes it is enough to open the document you need for printing, let it be printed, and everything will work. The second category contains more serious causes, which may relate to a malfunction of the printer or a full-fledged multifunction device (MFP). System problems are corrected by the user using step-by-step instructions. But the software, unfortunately, is almost impossible to solve on your own. It is necessary to contact the service center for diagnostics and repair.

We will try to figure out what problems can interfere with the operation of the HP printer, model Deskjet 2130 and what to do to solve each problem. This is a pretty old machine based on inkjet technology. By the way, in inkjet devices, the lack of printing often arises due to problems with cartridges. Described in more detail below.

Why doesn’t it print

General article with all possible reasons: why the printer does not work.

No connection. The printer connects to a computer or laptop using a USB cable, the second cord connects the device to the mains. If the reason is a faulty cable, the device not only fails to print in black and color, but it does not scan or make copies. Try replacing the wires with working ones from a similar device. If there are no additional cables, check that power is supplied, which can be determined by the flashing lights on the case. If they are not lit, power is not being supplied. Pull out both wires and then reconnect to the device. Make sure the printer is on your computer under Devices and Printers.

It is important that the cartridges are in the correct position and that the nozzles in them are not clogged with dried ink residues.

Decrease in level can be warned by special indicators located on the top panel of the device. Different bulbs are used to control the level of black and color dyes.

Zeroing the cartridge

  • Disconnect printers from the power using the button on the case.
  • To access the ink cartridges, you need to open the cover on the device.
  • Remove the cartridge.
  • Place the ink bottle on the table so that you have access to the contacts.
  • Take a piece of tape and glue the first contact in the second line vertically.
  • Reinsert the ink tank and print a test page.
  • Take out the cartridge again, cover the top contact in the penultimate column, print the test.
  • Cover the top contact in the last and penultimate column, re-print the test page.
  • Begin to peel off the tape in the same order as it was glued, and each time do the test.
  • After peeling off all the tape, wipe the surface of the cartridge with alcohol, wait until it dries, and replace the cartridge.

Stopped working after refueling

In the HP Deskjet 2130 printer, the black cartridge has a special sensor that counts the number of pages printed. The counting aLGorithm assumes that the same amount of ink is consumed per sheet. In practice, the two printed photos use a different ratio of black and color inks. Therefore, a situation may occur when the printer stops printing in black, but there is still ink. It is the dye level sensor that is to blame, which considered that the number of prints reached the maximum and blocked the printout. This often happens after refilling the cartridge. The problem is solved by two methods:

  • Dear. Buy a new original ink bottle. Not cheap, but allows you to solve the problem for a long time.
  • Economical. Reset counter of printed sheets. Requires the user to strictly follow a certain sequence of actions, no financial costs are required.

Flushing

In the process of refueling or long-term use, the surface of the inkwell could get stained with dye residues, which then dried on it. Dry ink prevents the printer from detecting the presence of a cartridge and does not print documents. To fix the problem, you need to flush the print head nozzles and clean the cartridge contacts. The procedure can be done independently.

After removing from the printer, wipe the contacts on the cartridge and the carriage with a sponge soaked in water, gently clean the nozzles. The ink tank is installed back after the contacts are completely dry. It is recommended not to wait for repairs, it is better to carry out maintenance after each refueling for the purpose of prevention.
