How to print a barcode on a conventional printer. Barcode label printing without special programs
For the formation and production of stickers and tags with a barcode, specialized printing equipment is used. A label printer is a piece of equipment that transfers a given barcode image onto self-adhesive tape or thermal labels. The speed and functionality of the printing device depends on the manufacturer of the equipment and the specific model of the device.
By performance, label printers are divided into:
Desktop. designed for the production of self-adhesive labels. Printers of this class are usually installed directly at the workplace and connected to the main device, cash register, or PC.
Mobile. Due to the presence of a rechargeable battery, they can be used as portable equipment. A distinctive feature of the device is its small size, and some models also have a special handle for easy transportation from place to place.
Industrial printers. have high productivity and can produce up to 10,000 labels in 24 hours. The equipment belongs to professional devices and can be used without interruption throughout the entire shift.
Before sending a label for printing, you must first create a layout using graphic programs. Usually, when you buy a printer, test versions of label creation software are installed on it and after the trial period expires, you need to purchase a paid license key.
But not everyone can afford to buy expensive software, so in this article we will tell you how to generate and print a label on a printer without using Special programs.
How to create and print a label in Excel
Of course, in large organizations it is quite difficult to do without a special program for creating labels, but standard Microsoft Excel is quite enough to meet the needs of a small or medium-sized company.
The easiest way to print labels from an Excel document is to create a layout in a table. If you need several copies, then the layout is copied several times and sent to print. This is convenient if the name of the product must be on the label, without indicating its characteristics (manufacturer, expiration date, etc.)
To create a barcode, you need to apply the TBarcode setting, it can be downloaded from the developer’s website. This program integrates with Windows and can be used via Excel or Word. The creators provide a free test version, but after its expiration you will have to pay for a license key.
Also, easy-to-use ready-made programs such as E-label or LablelJoy are used to create labels. They use data from supporting documents, including not only Excel.
For example, the E-price tag can be integrated Not only with Excel spreadsheets, but also with 1C price lists downloaded to your computer. In order to get started, you just need to select a template from the software library, as well as source table or document. Mark the lines or columns with a certain color (Yellow. supplier, etc.). After that, the program will independently enter information into the template, and the labels can be sent to print.
How to create and print a label in Word
You can print a label in Word in any of the following ways:
Using Word Tools. To prepare one or more labels for printing in Word 2010, go to the [Mailings] tab and open [Labels]. The [Envelopes and Labels] window will open, write the desired text, then specify the parameters of the future label and click [Create]. The sheet displays a grid with the future label. If desired, you can add graphics or a barcode to them. To do this, use the TBarcode program.
Printing labels: an overview of online services
You can also print barcode labels without using paid programs by using one of the online graphic services. Here are a few of them:
Canva. Using this designer, you can create a layout of the future label from scratch, and then save the document in a suitable format. To work in the program, you will have to go through mandatory registration, you also need to know that only some of the layouts are free.
Litebox. the resource is a Cloud service and allows you to both work with ready-made templates and create your own. It only takes a couple of clicks to send a label to print. Developers Provide only 14 days of free use of the program, then you will have to purchase a license key.
These are just a few online services that allow you to create and print label layouts.
Printing self-adhesive labels for bottles
For bottles with food and industrial liquids, the creation of strong, durable labels is required, therefore, entrepreneurs choose polyethylene, nylon or polypropylene film as a basis. But if you need to print a conventional self-adhesive label, then all the above programs and tools are suitable for creating a layout.
Of course, the process of creating a sticker on a bottle is a little more complicated, in comparison with the development of standard labels, and requires care and accuracy of calculations. Therefore, in such cases, it is still better to purchase a specialized paid program and specialized consumables.
Printing labels in 1C: Retail
If an organization uses 1C in its work, then with its help you can create and send price tags and labels to print.
For example, creating and printing labels in the standard version of 1C: Retail is carried out using the [Print labels and labels] command. You can familiarize yourself with the layouts, as well as make changes to them and specify the number of copies, in the [Printed Forms] section by opening the [Templates of labels, receipts and KKM price tags].
When all parameters and characteristics are set, Confirm the action by clicking [OK]. If you plan to use the created layout in the future, then you need to click [Save and save].
The creation of labels in 1C Retail 2.2, as well as in other configurations, may differ slightly (for example, in the names of sections), but the basic operation algorithm will be the same:
Open the software menu and select [Purchase], then open [Service] and enter [Print Labels].
Specify the print mode, click [Label Print], and then [Set].
Open the preview and, if everything is done correctly, send the layout to print.
Setting up a 1c printer or connecting 1C commercial equipment how to print a barcode in 1c documents ?
Nbsp Determine what type of label printer you want to connect to 1C:
You will immediately ask why. Yes, just to exclude unnecessary manipulations with the printer itself (it often happens that the equipment is in an indefinite state. “Dump”, “half-calibration”, “uploading new firmware”, etc.) and you are trying to adjust the page size in 1C.
Since you are reading these lines, then you have encountered certain problems when setting up or installing the label printer, we recommend that you “reset” the label printer to “factory settings” and continue to follow our instructions Described below.
Label printers, and accordingly labels, are of two types: thermal printers, they print labels by heating, and thermal transfer printers, they print through a special ink ribbon. Ribbon. An important point to know here: thermal transfer labels are not suitable for type 1 printers. Thermal printers, they DO NOT respond to heat. It is very easy to check which labels you have, just heat the label, for example with a lighter, if it darkens, then the label is intended for thermal printing.
In other words, you need to check the consumables that you plan to use on this type of printer. Remember, on the label printer there is always a picture of how to refill the ribbon (from our practice. 30% of problems in the first two months after buying a label printer This is not the correct use or refueling of consumables) how can you not remember old Murphy. “In any dataset, the most reliable value, and not requiring any verification, is wrong.”
Nbsp 1C requirements for the label printer:
Few people clarify to the client that, in fact, the 1C program makes certain requirements for the label printer: a more powerful processor and a large amount of RAM.
This is due to the peculiarity of the work of 1C itself: each label, in fact, is sent to print separately, even if you gave the task to print 100 copies of the same label.
We think that many users still remember the time when the maximum speed of printing labels from 1C was up to 20% of the stated in the technical characteristics of the label printer. The reason is precisely in the weak processor and small amount of RAM. the label printer had to process each received label as a separate job with all the resulting time delays.
Therefore, if you use special software (LabelView, BarTender, etc.) for a label printer, the characteristics when printing labels from 1C come to the fore. You should also consider that the amount of memory on the printer affects the length of the label (or tag). The more memory, the longer the label.
Nbsp Working with the label printer driver:
Modern versions of barcode label printer drivers allow you to connect your label printer to the Windows operating system. The barcode printer driver allows you to manage all the printing parameters, control the size of the labels used, test the printer, etc. You can download the latest drivers from the manufacturer’s website or contact the PRINT-YUG specialists.
It is always recognizable in your supplier, which parameters the driver of the offered label printer allows to control. Your convenience depends on it.
Whatever your printer and operating system version, the label printer is connected like a regular printer. The difficulty lies only in setting the correct size of paper, margins, headers and footers and linking it all to a specific label or price tag in 1C. But it sometimes takes hours to customize the label format and fit to the paper.
So, to set up a label printer in 1C. You need to follow these steps:
Install or check for the “BarCode” / Eangnivc.Ttf font in the Windows system; If the font is not installed, download it. To do this, follow the link to download eang000.Ttf (10kb) Then copy it to the standard folder with the fonts of your operating system. As a rule, this is the Windows / Fonts directory (or copy eang000.Ttf to the Control Panel. Fonts folder). If the font is found in the system, but how to find out later that the barcode is being printed in the program, go to the font directory. Find this file there and double-click on it with the left mouse button. This action should activate it and will allow you to use the barcode in 1C.
Install or check the presence of the “barcode.Ocx” and “1CBarCode.Dll” components in the Windows system (The files are available in the 1C: Enterprise delivery, on the ITS disk or in the user’s personal account https://portal.1c.Ru of the 1C: Enterprise program system ) To correctly install the “barcode.Ocx” component, do the following: Install ActiveBarcode, copy the Barcod.Ocx file to the C: \ Windows \ directory. It is important here that a terminal window (Click the Start button and select Run, command line, cmd) should be opened by the command “Run as administrator” (Available by right-clicking). Programs for registering 32-bit and 64-bit ActiveX in 64.bit Windows are different, but both are called regsvr32.Exe. Therefore, to guarantee the launch of 32-bit regsvr32, in the terminal window, type the command “c: \ windows \ syswow64 \ regsvr32.Exe Barcode.Ocx”
Adjust the size of the barcode label in the print server: Start. Customization. Printers and faxes. Next file. Server property. This is where you create or select a label size. Or for WINDOWS-10, the print server setting looks like this:
Adjust the size of the barcode label in the driver of your label printer, first “by default”, then in the “main” tabs of the driver. Important: when printing from 1C, the “default” driver settings are used, which are indicated in the tabs (by button) “default”.
Check printer operation from Word or Excel. It is important to set the page parameters. Click on the toolbar. File. Page settings, select a printer and paper size (in your case, the label size), the selected size must match the physical size of the label. On the toolbar, click the “view” icon, the label data Should fit on one page, if not, close the label view mode, on the bottom toolbar there is a “view only” icon if it is enabled. Turn off. Edit the label, by changing its size, until the moment when it will “fit” in the view on one page. The same manipulations are valid for working in the 1C environment.
Set up work label size in 1C (configurator). First, you need to check the printer settings in 1C 8.X. This is done through the menu “Service. Users. List of users” / Select user /. Retail trade and trade equipment. Printing labels. Here for print settings: 1). You need to make sure that the printer name matches the printer name in Windows. 2). Next, for customization, it is better to print labels with previews. Here you can change the scale, the page settings button, you can also check the printer settings, set or check the height and width of the label. The font size, for example, in the “name” field, as well as the size of the barcode, is set in the configurator. Initially, the configuration is blocked from any changes, in order to have the possibility of editing you need to: go to the configurator. Configuration. Support. Support setting. Allow changes. Next, we find the label, the Configuration window (located on the left of the screen, if not, select CtrlShiftC). Open the General group. General layouts. Label, open the label, a spreadsheet appears, if changes are allowed, then by right-clicking on any element of the table, you can call the context menu, and select Properties in it and continue editing (see also the menu on the right).
It is very easy to adjust the size of the label (carrier) in the driver
Mandatory driver settings in WINDOWS system for ZEBRA GK / GX 420t / 420d printer. After setup, you need to calibrate the media (new label size). This must be done after each size change. !
It is also necessary to correctly configure the label layout in the 1C editor
It is important in the 1C Enterprise system to set the scale “by the width of the page”
If you have difficulty connecting and configuring thermal printers for barcode labels, our specialists will help you to perform this procedure quickly and efficiently. We configure and connect equipment of the following brands: ARGOX, CITIZEN, DATAMAX, GODEX, PRIMERA, PROTON, SATO, TOSHIBA TEC, TSC, ZEBRA. You can call our specialist to your office
It is important to remember:

Review of the Godex G530 300 dpi label printer and printing on fabric
Our company “Inter Aydy” is the official dealer of Godex products. We have prepared a review of the Godex G530 label printer in the G530UES 011-G53E02-000 modification, which, in addition to the advantages listed above, supports RS232 and Ethernet connections. As part of the review, we carried out a test print on conventional thermal transfer labels and fabric media.
Godex G530 packaging and arrangement
The Godex G530 label printer comes in a cardboard box. There is quite a bit of information on the packaging itself about its contents and information about the product can only be found from the labels pasted on the top side. Among the latter, there is also a label indicating the resolution of the installed print head. the information on it is given in Russian, which is a positive aspect. There is a similar mark on the bottom of the printer.
The Godex G530 is packed, as they say, conscientiously: the printer is placed between two pieces of soft protective material, and the parts included in the kit (holders for labels and ribbon, power supply, USB cable) are neatly packaged in bags and laid on top with an additional letter of foam. The package also includes instructions for connecting a label printer to a PC and installing consumables, a warranty certificate, a CD with drivers and GoLabel proprietary software for creating labels.
The Godex G530 manual is clear and understandable, despite the lack of text. A more detailed manual in Russian for the label printer is available on the Inter Aydy website.
Appearance and design of Godex G530
In terms of design, the Godex G530 label printer leaves a good impression. The shape of the case cannot be called frankly boring, while the printer is quite convenient to connect and maintain.
Godex G530 is operated with a single button. although it is small, it is clearly visible and clearly pressed. On the sides there are two latches that secure the printer cover, under which is the print head and compartments for consumables. You can control the condition of the ribbon and label tape through an elegant window in the lid. Connectors. USB 2.0 Type B, COM and Ethernet. routed to the back.
The Godex printer allows you to use a variety of accessories. So, by removing the cover at the bottom of the front panel, you can connect a cutter or label dispenser to the G530. For printing on large rolls of fabric mounted on an external holder, the printer has a slot under the cover on the back.
The “filling” of the G530 is distinguished by the quality of materials and workmanship. Noteworthy is the rather tight clamps of the print head, but you get used to it pretty quickly. As well as the need to adjust the distance between the guides for the label tape only manually. no wheel is provided. However, the mechanism is verified and works without problems.
The Godex G530 has a movable gap and black mark sensor under the print head unit.
Installing consumables in the Godex G530 label printer is generally intuitive and not a daunting task. In order to clearly demonstrate the process of installing consumables, we have prepared small video instructions.
Loading a Roll of Labels into the Godex G530 Printer
Please note that after changing the type of labels, it is likely that a forced calibration of the printer will be required. To calibrate the Godex G530, turn off the printer power (switch on the back) and hold down the function key. Now turn on the printer, wait until the Ready light starts flashing and release the button. The printer will automatically calibrate and print the system data. It is noteworthy that in this way the printer is easily calibrated for printing even on very non-standard media: for example, labels with a hologram.
Installing Ribbon in Godex G530 Label Printer
The process of installing a ribbon (ink ribbon) in the Godex G530 is shown in the video below.
Connecting Godex G530 to PC
The Godex G530 label printer in the G530UES 011-G53E02-000 modification supports connection via three different interfaces: USB 2.0, RS-232 (nine-pin COM port) and Ethernet. However, no matter how you connect the printer to the PC, you will most likely need to install a driver.
The G530 driver is on the included disc. It is also available for download on the Godex and Inter Aydy websites. The driver installation itself is simple and does NOT take much time. you just need to answer the questions of the installation wizard. Also remember to connect your printer to your PC. When connecting a Godex printer to a local network (via Ethernet), you will need to install the NetSetting program. it is included on the CD in the kit.
Create and print a label
You can use the proprietary GoLabel editor or BarTender software to create and print labels on Godex printers (requires a paid version). You can learn how to work with GoLabel from our video tutorial.
Now let’s walk through the process of creating a label in BarTender, and then we will print samples on the Godex G530 printer. Since the printer supports a resolution of 300 dpi and, accordingly, allows printing on Small text labels, let’s create a sample with a font of various sizes. And since the G530 is often used for printing labels on fabrics, we will try this option by printing some examples on nylon.
To create a label in Bartender, after starting the program, select “Create a new document”, then. “Blank template” and specify the printer, in our case. Godex G530. Here you can set additional printing and printer settings, select the type of media and print (thermal direct and thermal transfer), specify the print speed, intensity and other parameters. If you are Printing a regular label, then this item can be skipped for now. We’ll come back to it when we print labels on fabric.
The next step is to select a set of labels (In fact, the template is the size, the various blocks and their location are similar to each other). Leave the item “Set special parameters” active, and then Set the number of elements on the page (one), margins along the edges, as well as the shape, size and orientation of the label.
Skip the “template background” step and. Everything, you can click “Finish”
When creating a label in Bartender, a set of elements is available to the user, such as text, images, shapes and, of course, a barcode. They can be added and edited individually. For convenience, an autodetector for the position of the element (in the center and in the second elements) is implemented Note also that in Bartender for a barcode, you can substitute variable data from a third-party file. for example, an Excel spreadsheet.
As a first test sample, we have placed on the label the text, the barcode (EAN 13) and the Inter Ayda logo. When printing on Godex G530, the result is as follows.
Now Test the print quality of small text, for which we add inscriptions to the label, typed in different sizes. From 8th to 4th.
The result of printing a label on the Godex G530 printer at a print speed of 50.8 mm / s and a density of 8:
The result of printing a label on the Godex G530 printer at a print speed of 101.6 mm / s and a density of 8:
Printing on fabric
To print on fabric, it is necessary to install in the label printer Not only the fabric substrate (nylon, satin, etc.), but also the Resin ribbon. with a resin coating. Of course, the position of the media and the ribbon must match. The images below show the basic steps for installing tissue media and Resin Ribbon in the Godex G530.
Next, in the printer settings, you need to set the printing parameters, namely: select the continuous media type and make sure that thermal transfer is used as the printing method. In BarTender, you can make these settings when creating a new label: Select Printer Step Document Properties. Media Tab (Unchecked Use Current Printer Settings).
The subsequent process of creating a label for printing on fabric is practically the same as creating a regular label. The only thing we recommend is to add a horizontal line at the bottom of each label. this will make it easier to cut it off.
Printed on a Godex G530 printer on nylon media, the labels look like this:
The Godex G530 desktop label printer is the perfect solution for thermal transfer printing on both paper or propylene labels and fabrics. It is not very fast due to its support for 300 dpi resolution, but it prints at very high quality. Even at its maximum speed and low print density, the Godex printer allows you to Get legible text on paper labels, typed in only 4 point size! When it comes to printing on fabric, here the G530 also excels: there were no problems with installation and the Resin ribbon, and the quality of the image, text and barcode applied to the fabric turned out to be very good.
We have tested the “older” modification of the Godex G530 label printer. G530UES 011-G53E02-000. It is equipped with USB, COM and Ethernet ports, and even with this equipment it costs me 27,000 rubles (price at the time of publication of the review). Basic modification. no serial and network support. Predictably cheaper. Both Godex printer options can accommodate 300m rolls of ribbon and labels up to 102mm wide. An additional advantage of the Godex G530 is its pleasant appearance and functional design.
Among the shortcomings of the G530, we can note the need to install a driver even for computers with Windows 10 OS and Loud noise during calibration, but all the disadvantages of this printer can be forgiven for the high print quality and low price.
