If an inkjet printer has been idle for a long time, it has not been printed on, then the likelihood of encountering the problem of clogging the printhead with dried beauty is quite high. If the situation with blockage is not fatal, then the procedure for cleaning the output openings of the print head (also known as nozzles) helps. This procedure is carried out using proprietary software. The procedure is functionally identical, but different printer manufacturers name it differently:

  • Epson has a print head cleaning.

  • Canon has two whole modes: cleaning and a more thorough option, called deep cleaning, which is used if the first mode does not work properly.
  • During this procedure, the pump, which is in the printer, runs a certain volume of ink under high pressure in order to clean the nozzles from clots of dried ink or the formed air lock.

    It is worth noting that in the most budgetary models of inkjet printers, the pump is physically absent and, accordingly, nozzle cleaning does not function in them, although the option for carrying out this procedure may be displayed in the service software.

    In such devices, the cleaning of the print head is carried out using a soaking procedure followed by rinsing in a specially designed liquid.

    After the procedure for removing and then inserting ink cartridges, do not forget to check that they are correctly installed, nothing blocks access to the air ducts that are on the cartridges.

    If you have a CISS at your disposal, then carefully check the permeability of the paint along the trains, if everything is in order with the air holes on the paint tanks.

    When using a laser or LED printer and encountering spots or stripes, and sometimes even black sheets when printing, you should check: the tightness of the cartridge (toner spills out of it during printing), waste bin (excessive amount of toner gets into it when printing), presence of foreign objects inside the printer, damage to mechanisms, incorrect installation of the cartridge or its physical wear and tear of its constituent elements.

    Problems that may arise after refueling:

    • The printer prints in only one shade, for example, green.
    • Printed color appears very faint, although the print cartridge is full.
    • On the printed sheet, only spots of a multi-colored color or similar anomalies are visible for the image space.

    The nature of these malfunctions may be associated with contamination of the printer mechanisms with a dye, incorrect installation of the cartridge (s), irregularities in the procedure for refilling / refilling cartridges.

    The absence of text / image during printing and, accordingly, the issuance of white sheets by the printer, or various defects that arose when printing after replacing the cartridge from the original to a compatible one, or refilling the cartridge with conditionally compatible ink, indicate incomplete compatibility with your printing device.

    On some printer models, these problems can be solved by flashing the cartridge or the printer itself, while others cannot be corrected and the only way out of this situation is to purchase original consumables and accessories.

    Hardware and Printer Problems

    These problems are serious enough, they are of a purely hardware nature. It is hardly possible to solve them without special technical knowledge, diagnostic equipment.

    On your own, you can solve software problems related to operation: whether the printer has jammed the paper, check the correct installation of the cartridge, check the printer mechanisms available for review for foreign objects, clean the printer from ink or toner.

    I understand that your printer displays a “Printer is disabled” message when trying to print, but prints from a print scan program when trying to print an “internal test page”. Follow these steps to manually assign an IP address and assign a new “port” to resolve this issue:

    • Reboot the printer.
    • Obtain the IP address of the printer. To obtain an IP address, touch the wireless icon on the printer control panel.
    • Enter the IP address in a web browser to open the printer EWS page on your computer.
