What is the size of a notebook sheet for a printer

Creating a custom page size

In the Page Setup group, click Size and select Create New Page Size. In the Page section, enter the desired width and height values.

How to print a book or brochure in Word

In addition to viewing, entering, editing and formatting text, Microsoft Word has many useful functions that greatly simplify the work with the document.

size, notebook, sheet, printer

Information is easily presented in the form of tables, you can also add text frames to figures and tables, captions, footnotes, endnotes, headers and footers.

One of the options is the ability to create and print a brochure, while there is no need to download and install third-party software. It can be done easily and simply with a few clicks.

You need to create headers and footers in the document:

  • Double-click the right mouse button at the top or bottom of the sheet to open the menu. The section “Constructor” is activated. Here are the buttons for going to the header / footer, changing margins, etc.
  • By default, Word establishes links between sections. Uncheck the box “Special header for the first page” and make the item “As in the previous section” inactive by clicking on it.
  • On the top panel on the left, click “Page number”. “At the bottom of the page”. select the desired option.
  • Sheets are automatically numbered.
  • Check the arrangement of numbers. The wizard can automatically put a link between the sections, so again make the item “As in the previous section” inactive and remove the numbers from the headers and footers where they should not be. Use the number format to set the digit from which the countdown will start.

Page size, paper size and orientation for individual pages

In a multi-page publication, you cannot change the page size, paper size, or orientation for specific pages only. This will require creating a separate publication for each preset and then manually collecting the printed documents.

Changing the page size in Word for a different format

However, sometimes you might want to use several different sheet sizes in the same document. You can also easily create them in just a few steps.

Make sure the mouse cursor is in the place where you want to start the new page format. If the cursor is in the middle of the page, the changes will take effect on a new page after choosing a new size.

Then go back to the “Page Setup”, “Layout” group and click the “Size” button again. This time, however, instead of choosing an option from the list, click the “Paper Sizes” button at the bottom of the menu.

Here, on the “Paper” tab of the “Page Setup” dialog box, select the size you want.

At the bottom of the dialog box, click the drop-down arrow next to Apply to, click the This Point Forward button, and then click OK.

The location where the cursor was positioned is now displayed on a new page with the new paper size.

Cover creation

Now go to the “Insert” section. On the left in the settings panel, find the “Title Page” parameter and click on it. A list with cover options will be displayed. Choose the most suitable.

By clicking on the cover, a template will appear in front of the text, which must be filled in: enter the title, subtitle, date and other information, depending on the option chosen. On the second sheet there will be an annotation, if you wish, you can fill in or delete it by selecting the text and pressing the Del button. You can delete the page itself.

If desired, the user can make standard text formatting: alignment to width, indentation of the first line, decreasing / increasing margins, deleting extra lines. To prevent subheadings from being placed separately from the text, in the “Page Layout” call the “Paragraph” option. A window will open where, in the “Position on the page” tab, put a tick in the “Do not detach from the next” box.

Activate the option “Wrap with text”, select the appropriate option for the arrangement of pictures in the document.

You can also change the font and size of the text.

Preparing text for printing on a notebook sheet

Now you need to format the text so that it is located exactly in the cells.

Font: Eskal. You can download it here.
Font size: 16
Line spacing: set manually. Click the Line Spacing tab Other line spacing options:

In the window that opens, set the line spacing “Exactly”, a value of 14.2 pt:

Much better now. Remove the spacing after the paragraph so that the lines don’t go outside the cells:

Select the text, set the alignment to width:

If you did everything correctly, the text will look like this:

Now you need to remove the sheets from the notebook and print the text on them. Depending on which printer you have, there may be 2 printing options.

The inkjet printer can print on double sheets. The sheet must be folded tightly in half and printed on each side of it, folding it correctly each time.

This method is more complicated, you need to keep track of the order of the pages, since the left side of the sheet is at the beginning of the notebook, and the right side is at the end. Caution! The printer may chew on a double sheet.

Therefore, if you do not want to take risks or if you are afraid to confuse the sheets, then it is better to cut them in half, and then glue them with tape.

on a laser printer, the sheets must be cut in half, then print the text, glue the sheets with tape and insert into the notebook. Do not use paper with adhesive tape already attached to the laser printer. When printed, it will melt and damage the printer.

Sizes of A-size and series paper sheets

ISO 216 A paper sizes are shown in the table below in millimeters and inches (values can be converted to cm by dividing mm by 10). The picture of A series paper sizes on the right gives a visual explanation of how the sizes relate to each other. for example, A5 is half A4 and A2 is half the size of A1.

4A0 and 2A0. DIN 476 high size formats

There are also paper sizes larger than A0. These are 4A0 and 2A0. These sizes are not described in the ISO 216 standard, but are commonly used for large paper sizes. The origin of these formats comes from the German standard DIN 476, on the basis of which ISO 216 was created.

Note: the last point is there, because the square root of 2 in the aspect ratio does not always give whole numbers.

International implementation and use of sheet format

A-size paper sizes are currently used widely around the world, except in the United States, Canada, and parts of Mexico. A4 has become the standard business letter size in English-speaking countries such as Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, which are accustomed to using the imperial number system everywhere. In Europe, paper sizes were adopted as a formal standard in the mid-20th century, and from there they spread throughout the world.

    Standard notebook format

The method, which we will consider next, allows you to create both blank notebook sheets and whole notebooks with ready-made notes, for example, synopses.

The first step is to resize the sheet. To do this, go to the “Layout” tab, expand the “Size” button menu and select “Other paper sizes”.

  • Enter the following values:
  • Width: 16.5 cm;
  • Height: 20.5cm.
  • Next, you need to customize the fields. To do this, in the same “Layout” tab, expand the menu of the button of the same name and select “Custom Fields” in the list that opens.

  • Set the following parameters:
  • Top: 0.5 cm;
  • Bottom: 0.5 cm;
  • Left: 2.5 cm;
  • Right: 1 cm.
  • Follow the steps 1. 5 of the first part of this manual (“Only in electronic form”). This time, the size of the cell must be set exclusively 0.5 0.5 cm. this is exactly what corresponds to the standard notebook.

If you do not plan to print the resulting notebook sheet, on this the problem from the title of the article can be considered solved, but if you want to print it, or even add text to the pages that is as close to handwritten in appearance as possible, go to the next instructions.

    A4 size

To make a notebook sheet out of pure A4 (in appearance, not in format), do the following:

Click the Insert tab and expand the Table Button menu. Select “Insert Table”.

    • Number of columns: 16;
    • Number of lines: 24.
    • Number of columns: 32
    • Number of lines: 49.

Important! These values are suitable if the document uses “Regular” margins. the size of the top and bottom is 2 cm, left. 3 cm, right. 1.5 cm.

Further, despite the fact that we have set the desired number of rows and columns, the cell sizes will still need to be specified independently. To do this, select the entire table by clicking on the square element located in its upper left corner, then right-click (RMB) and select the “Table Properties” item in the context menu.

In the window that opens, go to the “Line” tab, check the box next to the “height” item and enter 0.5 or 1 cm in the field, depending on which cell sizes you created the table for in the second step of the current instruction.

Go to the “Column” tab, check the box next to the “Width” item and enter 0.5 or 1 cm in the appropriate field. Click the “OK” button for the changes to take effect.

If desired, the appearance of the table borders can be changed, for example, by making them blue, as is often the case in notebooks, or dashed. The tools necessary for these purposes are present in the “Design” tab, available when the table is selected. We will not focus on the design here, as we previously talked about this in a separate article.

Having finished with the design, you can proceed to printing a document that looks like a notebook sheet in a cage.

This method, unlike the one we have considered in the first part, allows you to create a paper copy of a notebook sheet in A4 format, but in electronic form it is completely unsuitable for work. each cell is a separate cell of the table, and therefore it will not work.

    Electronic only

If you need to make a notebook sheet exclusively for working with Word on a PC, without the need to print a document, you just need to turn on the grid display in it and configure it correctly. For this:

Go to the “View” tab and check the “Grid” checkbox located in the “Display” tool group.

In the Arrange toolset, expand the Align button menu and select the last item Grid Options.

Click “OK” for the changes to take effect. The added shape can be deleted.

All of these values will have to be adjusted manually until a perfect match is achieved. You can do it yourself using the instructions provided on the links below.

READ  Why does the printer print faintly when the cartridge is full?

As we mentioned above, the grid with guides is not printed, but this limitation can be bypassed. it is enough to take a screenshot of such a document at a scale of 100%, and then set the resulting image as the background. We talked about this in more detail in separate articles.

Creating a notebook sheet in Microsoft Word

    Blank notebook sheets

Having previously followed all the recommendations from the previous part of the article, do the following:

For a page with enabled and configured grid, set the scale to 100%.

In any convenient way, take a screenshot of it, carefully selecting along the contour or only then cutting off the finished file, and save it to your PC.

Set the resulting image as the background of the page. We previously wrote about how to do this in a separate article.

If you plan to write on notebook sheets by hand, proceed to printing them. You must first activate the item “Print background colors and pictures” in the display parameters.

Then, having prepared the printer for work, go to the “Print” section and configure the desired settings. Be sure to select “Print manually on both sides”, click on the “Print” button and follow the further prompts.

The resulting pages will need to be cropped a little, removing the fields on which the cell is not displayed.

    For print

Much more often it is required to make a notebook sheet not only or not so much for interacting with it directly in Word, but for printing. The grid is not displayed on a paper copy, and therefore the solution in this case would be to create a table or change the background mentioned above. Consider two different types of sheet. A4 size and like in a notebook, that is, having almost half the size and, which is also possible, stitched.

Exercise book sheets with handwritten text

Using the layout of the notebook page we created in the previous part of the article, as well as one of the third-party fonts that imitate handwriting, you can create an almost perfect analogue of the abstract. Of course, you will have to try a little to collect the resulting sheets in a notebook, gluing them with tape, putting them in a cover and securing them with staples, but this is not nearly as difficult as it might seem. This procedure in all details was previously discussed by us in a separate article.

  • it would be even more understandable if you posted a scan of a reproduction of the famous painting by Malevich.
I said in the fifth post. lay out a scan of a sheet filled with text if the problem is to draw (in Word) a grid with cells of 5mm, then at least it was possible to score an A4 sheet with the letter “E” to the end. it would be seen if the compression is on some part of the sheet and look in the FAK how to prepare a picture in order to post it on the forum. large size, not all load for a long time, after all, high-speed Internet.

If you have two identical printers, the computers have the same system, you use the same program to print, the print settings on both printers are the same, paper, if the profile compresses the whole sheet, not part of it. most likely something with print settings.
